"Usagi Yojimbo" is the name of the book, and it can be used as a name + title. Like "Bob the Plumber". Usagi does mean rabbit but in this case, it's his name. Yojimbo - a ronin bodyguard - is his "job".
If I remember correctly (and I may not be), they referred to him as this exclusively in the '87 toon. Both action figures made of him under the Turtles' line were also named Usagi Yojimbo.

Aw, man, that sucks that Usagi isn't appearing, but at least we've been given confirmation about it. I'd like to see him show up in the future if at all possible though.

Aw crap. Well, guess it could happen one of these days. Looking forward to the latter half of season 2 and beyond. Wondering if the other episodes are going to take place during Summer. Still holding out for new eps in April and May, however.
