Official Episode Discussion S2 #11 "Metalhead Rewired"

Poor Donnie! If it's not Timothy, April, or Kirby he's trying to protect and/or save it's also Metalhead. Metalhead sure did pull through though for the turtles and all of the other mutants. Poor guy.

As others have mentioned, at least this episode gives a reason why the other mutants aren't making a bigger impact on the city or appearing on the news.

I loved the R2-D2 references when Metalhead tried to connect with The Kraang technology. Because before the sounds occurred the device coming out of Metalhead's finger reminded me of R2-D2.

It was neat to see all of the mutants together in one place. Sure didn't need to let loose The Parasitica Wasp or The Squirrelanoid but what are you going to do. It was cool to see Slash again too. And the short but sweet exchange between Raph and Slash was cool too.

This was a great episode, i'm just curious as to where the newtralizer/ Mutagen man was....plus no retrieved Leatherhead Looking forward to the next ep!

I wanna watch again the episode but I can't deal with Metalhead's demise.



Funny I never felt anything about robot's death before. Even when Optimus Prime died in T2, some of my friends were teary but I was like "meh" ._.

A lot of feel for this episode... the ending really hit the soft spot. When Metalhead first appeared he was kinda "ok" to me, but now I love the dude.

Pretty sure that Mutagen Man is frozen in Donnie's lab somewhere (or his room). I think Leatherhead and Newtralizer (I hate that spelling <<) are in actually in another dimension (possibly Dimension X).

No prob! I'm looking forward to it, too. Maybe the Turtles will wind up in Dimension X and see them there (if that is the dimension they are in).

Yeah he was frozen in this episode in Don's lab.
If you look in the background when Don is working on Metalhead you can see Tim back there.
I really like the TVs he has hooked up showing Tim's vitals and all.

That awkward moment when you care more about a robot than most of the other characters (I didn't even feel this bad when April's dad was mutated )

XD.....yea me too....that's kinda sad.

Metalhead was more helpful than April's dad.

Most of the time Kirby has shown to just be a scaredy cat.

Scaredy bat, you mean. hehe Yeah, hoping they bring Metalhead back eventually. I have a feeling they will. We might not see him for a while but I'm sure he isn't gone for good. I wonder what tech the upgraded Metalhead will boast. Can't wait for his return some day.

That's because they gave us a reason to like or even care about MH before something happened to him.

And what reason would that be?

All we had seen from Metalhead in this show was attacking the turtles, going rouge, making random appearances, and being destroyed (Heck, this wasn't even the first time he was destroyed this season)

The ending was emotional because it was written and done well.

If you sit back and think about it, there wasn't exactly much done to make you "care" about the character in this incarnation, but only based on incarnations before it.

It was more than what little we were given with Kirby besides him being April's dad was my point.

And yes, it's extremely telling that MH's sacrifice is getting more emotional responses than April losing her dad yet again.

Not really though.

Metalhead is dead pretty much, sacrificed himself (Which most people, except me apparently, didn't expect) to end an emotional episode to prove that he could be trusted.

April's dad is still alive and was mutated (which we all saw coming) in the middle of an episode that was 4 months ago.

I'm just saying let's wait a good while and see if people still carry the same emotional content to an emotional scene that happened more or less just yesterday. I'm pretty sure it won't carry the same emotional feeling by then.

I wasn't that moved by the sacrifice either, but it does further annoy me at how very half-a***d this show handles drama and how the characters perceive drama.

I was still moved by it, I just expected it, so I guess I didn't feel down as much as others because I saw it coming.

Now I was down by Donnie's reaction to Metalhead's sacrifice, I'll say that. That was hard for me to watch.

I think is wasn't so much the robot but the fact that the robot had in a sense become a person. And how the differing views on the robot are were presented.

Leo as I have pointed out has a very by the book view on Ninjitsu so his attitude is "This is the way we have been taught and that is the correct way of being a ninja." So technology, particularly Alien tech has no place in Ninjitsu.

Donnie isn't as traditional but finds ways to adapt technology into ninjitsu, or in some cases substitutes it.

Metalhead has become Donnie's friend in many ways and he knows just because it was alien tech from their enemy, that didn't make him bad.

Leo on the other hand is thinking about the safety of his family and home. So having something created from their enemies technology doesn't sit well with him. Particularly since Metalhead has been reprogrammed by their enemy before. So he can easily turn on them again.

Metalhead listening to the conversation Leo and Donnie were having about how it would be better if he were shut down. Metalhead knew there was only one way to prove he was their ally and that was to take matters into his own robotic hands and deal with the Kraang himself.

And in the end he chooses to sacrifice itself in order for the turtles to have an an opportunity to escape. Proving to all the Turtles while the Kraang themselves are evil...their technology can be used for the purposes of good.

It also is the Antithesis of the Slash and Destroy ep. In Slash and Destroy, Slash wanted to take out the Turtles so that he and Raph would be a team unto themselves and that resulted in Raph siding with his brothers against his friend.

In Metalhead Rewired-Metalhead wanted to prove he was a worthy and useful ally. And while the obvious choice would have been Metalhead returning to his Kraang roots and turning against the Turtles, he instead chooses to show that he had evolved from what he originally had been.
