Watched this episode earlier today. I must say, I was pretty entertained and I found it to actually be a better introduction to Shredder than what IDW did over in their book. Here, Shredder is introduced and sold as a pretty chilling nemesis... IDW, he gets his ass kicked right out of the gate.

Quite a lot of events had happened in this episode. What is more unusual it didn't feel rushed.
Turtles were unable to save April's dad was kind of expected and yet I was surprised. So far Turtles cause more troubles then solve. I hope it'll change somewhat in the future.

The fact, that Turtles barely escaped from the Shredder is nice. For a change Shredder treated as a big threat which Turtles are unable to tackle right of the bat. I mean, it wasn't even draw or anything. Turtles just outright loose.

I haven't read synopsis for this episode and initially wasn't expecting that Bradford and Xever will mutate. I've got the clue about it, after Xever has touched this ugly fish.

In other notes:
Mutant Pigeon was ugly. Don's "nobody hurts my April" was cute.
I haven't expected any kind of strong continuty from this series, so I was pleasantly surprised.
