Well TMNT has somewhat of a following in Europe and is somewhat know around the world so I could see the total oversees numbers being around
275 Mil and 150 here in the states.

That should be enough to green light the 2nd one.

It's actual kind of surprising how low the numbers actually need to be to greenlight a sequel. I've seen some that I thought were sure to lose out, but get a sequel while others I thought did well and might warrant a sequel don't get one.

I'm still bummed A-Team didn't make enough to warrant a sequel. I actually liked the cast.

Even box office success isn't a guarantee of a sequel, necessarily - in some cases if a movie makes money but gets hugely negative critical and audience reaction, the bean-counters may consider a sequel too much of a risk. (And of course, plenty of movies that under-performed have gotten sequels based on good reviews/response and developing a cult following.)

Where I live, Turtles have a lot of fans in the adult segment who fondly remember 80-s cartoon. Thing is, those people more often then not, watch think of Turtles through nostalgic goggles, so any new version is critisized for being unlike their favorite cratoon from childhood.
Considering how far Bay's movie removed from 80-s cartooon as far as designs go...I am not really sure if this movie will be succesfull or not. But so far opinion of the people who I personally know is mostly negative. Their arguments are pretty much the same, which were used on this forum.

Here are my predictions for TMNT at the box office.

I decided to go by other comic book/superhero movies by looking at how much there 1st movies did, Transformers ect, (I ignored some Marvel film, Spiderman, Avengers ect, due to popularlity).


Opening Weekend

US - between 75 to 80 million
UK - between 10 to 15 million (Might change this depending how well it does in the US as we get it in October)
Global - between 160 to 180 Million

All time gross

US - between 220 million to 270 million
UK - between 40 million to 45 million (Might change this depending how well it does in the US as we get it in October)
Global - between 600 million to 650 million

By the way this is my opinion/prediction and I don't want to start an arguement on it.

Production Budget - $125 Million
Opening Weekend - $60--$65 Million
Worldwide Gross - $580--$650 Million

[Even though this is released in the UK during October, I'm still gonna talk about it] I've already said that Bay's name being attached to everything linked with this movie is a disappointment and I can't help but feel sympathetic with Liebesman that his name is just there now to remind people that he's the one sitting behind the camera guiding the performances, not the producer. But this isn't all bad as the teaser trailer for a property that hasn't been projected on the big screen for 7 years got over 31 million views on YouTube and Bay's name wasn't anywhere to be seen so who knows. It's the Ninja Turtles, kids will see this movie, most younger ones will want to see it in 3D, the parents will end up paying for their child and themselves in either format of the second or third dimension, so with a modest budget of $125 million; Paramount will be loaded by the end of the year with this and Transformers: AOE​.

boxoffice.com now predicts an opening of $39 million and a domestic total gross of over $100 million. It might get even higher after Comic-Con and more promotion in the upcoming weeks.

You realize $100 million domestic isn't very much for a summer blockbuster right. Cap 2, TASM2, X-Men, Godzilla and Transformers all grossed over $90 million in their first weekend alone.
