But you would think that a much quicker buck could be made by releasing this series on discs that everyone wanted to pay for. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE that Nick bigwigs can conjure up that could justify why the single disc releases of their own show contain (at minimum) 6-7 episodes IN ORDER, and yet for these they can only muster out 3 or 4 out of order episodes. I swear, its like Nick felt that even the guy who did "Turtles Forever" put WAY too much effort into that release, so they fired him to get someone else who had even less #$&@s to give.

Each season is 26 episodes, a 26 episode boxset is probably going to cost at least $30. Season sets will be aimed at collectors or fans of the series.

These cheap $9.99 DVDs are just for parents to buy their kids.

Dude, some DVD season sets will literally go for $9.99. Black Friday online shopping is a wonderful thing.

And yes, normal retail isn't $9.99... but for an out-of-date series they don't want to put much effort into? I think it would be smart business.

Of the three major business entities holding a share of TMNT creativity these days (IDW, Nick, and Platinum Dunes), only one of them has any frakking clue what TMNT fans want to pay money for.

Screw taco bell. $1 drinks 2 to 5. The most inopportune time to go there.

Not to get off topic. So i'll just reiterate that if they are going to do these, they need the synced up side art.

I couldn't resist.
Though I wish I knew why the only gif of this that exists plasters Homestuck faces onto the characters' faces.

It's also nice having the original Mirage stuff back in print.

I took a chance and direct tweeted Nickelodeon's Twitter account.

So what is the point of releasing the show out of order?

No point. Like I said, Viacom has flipped their sh*t.

it's weird cause

if they were gonna do this out of order crap. Why not just go with the highest in demand ones from the first release?

How hard would it be to just release all episodes do DVD-blueray disc and put them all in a Battleshell collection. It's 2015 and physical media is phased out by online streaming. If I just want to watch a film or listen to music, I can stream. If it's something I'm a fan of, I want the physical media.

For those who haven't seen this yet here it is from the man himself Peter Laird and his 'thoughts' on these new 2K3 sets.

Quote:
"10. So Nickelodeon's first DVD re-release of the 4Kids series will be the last six episodes of season 1 sold separately. This plan has not been received well by the fans, what do you think?"

It's quite possible that there is an art and/or science to the proper release of material on DVD that I am unaware of. That being said, I don't really understand why -- if you have a series which had continuity through each season -- you don't just start at episode one along with the next X number of episodes in sequence (however many you deem appropriate to fit on each disk). I have to say that the idea of a first release of the series being the last six episodes of Season One (if that is in fact, their plan) kind of baffles me. And if by "sold separately" you mean sold as individual episodes and not as a group of six, that's even odder. -- PL
Geez Peter for the love of God Buy back at least all the 2K3 stuff, at least then it will be 'done right'.

That would be a Godsend if Peter did somehow put his oar in and get us a decent DVD re-release of the 4Kids series. But it probably won't happen.

I feel like Heston in the old Planet of the Apes movies... Damn it, damn you all to hell! You blew it up!
