I agree though man. I am pretty irked as well that the same people who loved the PD Bay Turtles were so quick to hate on RiseTMNT, hate trends can be very annoying

More cybercubeds... be careful what you wish for. you may end up regretting it.
re hate trends. SMH. Saying stuff like that just seems so childish. Some people just are TIRED of reboots. as each progressive one seems to get worse and worse and worse. Look at 2K12. this is the THIRD time we've had someone do a take on rebooting mirage material. The fourth Time we've seen a turtle crashing through a window after getting beaten up by shredder. It's also the third time We've seen fred wolf call backs. And except for a few things that feel like they where done right, most where done better elsewhere. there has to be a way to re invent something that FEELS new, without totally going off the rails.. it's a very hard line to walk. ESPECIALLY after so many reboots. I mean, look at IDW. We've got a return of the Rat King..but we've also got three new characters to go with him in the form of immortal gods. We've got Angel, but she's now a robo cop like super hero. We've got Harold. We've got koya and bludgeon. We've got Bishop working with Darkwater. We've got Splinter leading the friggen foot clan. It's a nice mix of old and new direction, without changing anything DRASTICALLY from what we've known. But eventually, Reboot Fever WILL bottom out. You can only re invent something SO MANY TIMES before you can't do anything new without drastically changing it. |

People here have no choice, but to accept different versions of TMNT, which allows them to tolerate and appreciate other versions. Which I find to be a rather positive thing about this fandom. Most people "outside", know only 1 or 2 versions of TMNT and for them it's the only way possible this characters can exist. Quote:
No matter what some people might say about creators of the series pouring their hearts into new version, their main motivator is to keep it profitable. IDW is a sort of niche product, like all comic books nowadays, they don't need to be marketed towards large audience, which allows them to experiment. Sadly, the more popular thing - the more rigid set of rules it should follow to stay popular. At least in the eyes of producers who pay money. |

I must say i dont like the art work at all.it looks like its made fore toddelrs.
I will se IT and give IT a fair chance but i will not be AS exceting AS i was with 2012 show.at this point i wish they do make a adult series.and i woued love to see the 2001 art some time its a shame they did not USE IT and go with the 2003 style instead, I think the 2001 art woued have fitted the 03 show a lot better. |

The whole IDW comic series is nothing more than a reboot of everything from Mirage/4kids/Fred Wolf/Archie, etc. all thrown in a giant blender and mixed together with some new stuff. It works well of course and is very good, but also most of their major storylines are adaptions of old material with some new takes. |

I suppose I can see why some long term fans are bored by the time they saw a turtle be thrown through a window after being beaten up for the 4th time, For me, I hadn't seen all that so I got the 'my god, poor Leo' effect
That being said, with new people coming on board all the time and older fans starting to miss it after a few years retelling the story just with slight differences would work. The difference with this new show is that there was no gap so that changes it a bit, so either what they have done with a slightly changed origin/mystical world etc or they would have to have done some 'later on' or different dimension story. |

The reboot fatigue can be real, it's always being brought up with the Spiderman franchise...Batman too to some extent as well.

To be fair the Spideman franchise did do their recent ones quite close together ...and then new batman, I liked the Nolan Movies, they showed 'how' he did his training which wasn't addressed so much in the previous movies. (that I remember)

Generally I think the sentiment is that if they want to do reboots they should stagger them every couple of years. With the last Spiderman movie they did it right by not dragging out the Uncle Ben arc, they added something fresh. Now did they do that because Spidey is finally in the MCU and maybe it wouldn't have been done otherwise....I'd like to think not. Reboot fatigue like that can hurt any franchise.

If only to one day get a series in the same vein of 2003 (the earlier seasons), with aged up Turtles and their post-Shredder years/adventures. That would be nice. Why is that so hard... |

It's not really hated or liked. It's just there... sort of a strange, Pokemon-meets-a-Playstation-1-FMV kind of thing.

I think it generally fell off because people didn't like the story for it.

The last two seasons of 2k3 were Fast Forward (jumps to the future for a gimmick...really meh) and the cyber thing after that had a slightly different art style....wasn't into that one either. Definitely agree that if the story and voice work is good then the 2018 iteration could be something the general public will grab onto.
