As much as I don't like some of the things going on with this production, there is no way I won't be there opening weekend. I've waited too long for a new Turtles movie to not see it.

Pretty much. But I resent the beard remark. I got one nice beard.

I just wish this whole movie was canceled. Its going to do a lot more damage to the brand than Next Mutation did.

And if the movie bombs and doesn't get a sequel, it makes you wonder about the cartoon and comic. Companies are known to keep shows/comics running if there is a new movie sequel down the pipeline.

Okay, I was trying to give the film the benefit of the doubt, but this Eric Sachs thing completely lost me. I hope that it's at least fun to watch for everyone who cares to see it, I just know I couldn't sit and watch it without seething with cynicism. No need to put myself through it.

Maybe Eric Sachs IS Colonel Shredder, but then the REAL Oroku Saki Shredder comes at the end of the movie and says, "I AM THE REAL SHREDDER!" and then slashes the whitewashed colonel's throat and becomes the villain for the tail-end of the movie.

That would be great.

While there is a slim chance they could be pulling a Ch'rell-esque impostor thing, I highly doubt it. It's just delusional hopefulness.

^ finds out they'll make William Fichtner look Asian...
Completely backtracks this statement.

I was thinking something similar to Iron Man 3 with The Mandarin not being the real character....I don't know if you seen the movie or not but Iron Man fans are pissed.

I haven't, but now that you've spoiled the ending, I suppose I have no need to either. Idiot.

Not me. I saw TMNT 2007 in theatres opening night and felt like I was hit by about a million vegetables and eggs in the seats... fool me once, and all that.

The reincarnation stuff is poignant. I will say, if they go with an angle where Splinter and Erich Sachs are reincarnations of Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki... I might be OK with that, depending on where they go with the angle. It's compelling, and I like the way IDW rocks with it.

The potential for nonsense and ham is pretty high though, and I don't place a particularly high vote of confidence in the finished product.

I couldn't agree more with everything you've just said. TMNT 2007 was horrible. I tried to convince myself it was a good Turtles movie when I got out of the theater. The IDW stuff could work. The IDW story is coming together nicely. It does make sense in accordance with Ficthner's statement: "..he goes through a few stages in his existence." Splinter and Shredder could be reincarnations. Eastman is involved with the IDW story a lot, and he was brought on board for the movie too. We could be getting an IDW story for this movie. And yes... this movie can very much be as loony/goofy as the OT and the Blue Door script we've seen. Fingers crossed. But you're really not going to see it?

I don't get what is so not understandable that people might be angry about a franchise they love being mishandled. Are people being overly dramatic? Possibly. Should they wait for more solid evidence of the flick's worth before judgement? Definitely. But of course they can voice their frustrations in the development. I wonder what revelations would make you question the movie at all...

I guess reincarnation is a possibility, since Kevin Eastman allegedly collaborated with Liebesman on the story and he's on the IDW creative team. Either way, the whole "see guys, Eric Sachs kinda sounds like Oroku Saki" thing is just brain dead.

And still, as awful as this movie sounds, I'd like to point out that everyone freaked out over the third toe in the Nick toon. And Paulsen as Don. And Biggs as Leo. And Astin as Raph. And Mike and Don's naginata/kusarigama. And the CGI. And just about every news bit we got, but it's pretty much loved all around now.

We'll see.

Sounds like battered wife syndrome again. "He'll get better, he'll stop beating me!"

No, he won't -- he'll just keep on beating. Same as the franchise.
