Well, they did say his shell was cracked, and Raph was holding him kind of weird. Normally, he would have had Leo slung over his shoulder, hanging on to the arms with one arm and the legs with the other, while the midsection is on his neck. But instead, Raph was just holding him by the arms, letting his torso lean against Raph's shell. Looked kind of uncomfortable, but Raphael seems to be pretty knowledgable about wounds, so he would know the best way to be holding Leo I would assume.

Well, that was a satisfying finale, sure piqued my curiosity for the next season.

There were lots to love here: Leatherhead saving Splinter, a badass fight Splinter/Shredder (particularly Splinter rising from under the pipes, floved this part), the Party Van, Raph/Mikey interactions, and of course the Leo one-shot. I could ramble on about these parts but people here did it far better than me, so...

I wish the show could keep the dark tone it had and maturity levels we saw in this, but hey, this is a Nick's kid show...

I kinda agree about the Irma stuff though, even if the twist was nice, I'd rather have Irma be a "real" person and just being impersonated by Krang sub-prime for only a few weeks.

My other quip would also be about the focus on the turtles, and I kinda understand the felling regarding Raph. I'm an all-turtle lover, and I do feel like he got a bit shafted this season, and even more in the finale (he only killed ONE Krang!). I guess the episode focused more on his family oriented side (protecting Casey, sticking up for Donnie regarding April, carrying Leo, and his final moments with Mikey), but was underwhelmed by his passivity during Splinter's fight. His rage afterwards was fantastic, I don't deny that, but I wish he had done more during. Like, I don't know, throw his sai in Shredder's shoulder right before he delivers a lethal blow to Splinter, something like that. Like Warhorse said, last finale had kind of the same structure, notably Leo sacrificing himself/being believed dead, time to shake things a bit.

I hope Season 3 and the season finale next year allow Mike and Raph to be more important. Mikey's maturity in the last episodes, without him losing this endearing quality of him, was a regresher, I hope they'll go on with that.

Seamlessly, except for the part where the chaos from the alien invasion very considerately makes sure to be nowhere near the construction site while Leo's scenes happen.

And yes, I've already noted this, and I've already been told that I'm nitpicking, but I disagree: part of being a good show is being immersive--making viewers not feel that they're experiencing a fully-realized, breathing world--so when the show wants to sell the Kraang invasion as this huge, city-wide event, and then shows that it doesn't exist beyond the box designated "Kraang invasion set"...that's not good. It looks cheap, particularly in a show that aims at being slick and polished.

And heck, I understand why the showrunners may have decided not to have aliens fighting in the background, or have the battle with the Kraang actually intrude into Leo's battle with the Foot: the first would almost certainly create tonal dissonance; the second would Leonardo's scenes into something other than the sort of shot-by-shot adaptation of Leonardo #1 they were going for. But still, I didn't need a shot-by-shot adaptation of Leonardo #1; as good as the execution was, I wouldn't have minded if it had been set indoors or in the sewers or somewhere where the lack of alien invasion wouldn't have been noticed, and I don't really understand people who'd prefer slavish adherence to the source material to a show that forgets about things that are happening if they're not onscreen.

And honestly, I would have loved to see Leo fighting the Foot while there's a gorram alien invasion going on around them. Wouldn't that have been cool?

I can buy that, but it seems the Kraang really put a lot of elaborate work into their Mrs. Campbell plot from The Alien Agenda episode. Why didn't they use one of their spy guys to make her more convincing in their infiltration attempt? That's especially ironic considering we have evidence that Irma was already close to April during the events of Mousers Attack! (four episodes earlier!).

It just seems a real wasted opportunity on the Kraang's part.

Or... careless writing on the show's part, most likely.

I have really been out of the loop here, wow. I hope everyone has been doing well. I can honestly say there were some plot twists in this episode that I never saw coming. I feel that Nick is just trolling poor Kirby now. Still, when I saw the mutagen hit him, I had some small hope his mutation might be different but I guess not. Also, did anyone else feel disappointed by what happened with Leatherhead? It was epic to see Leatherhead fight Shredder, but the end result was just hard to watch. We JUST got Leatherhead back! And Irma....just unbelievable. I am still not sure how to take that one. How is that even possible? But that was one huge plot twist.

Or, Irma is real and she was replaced sometime after the second Rat King ep and being held captive somewhere.

Yeah man, I also felt bad for LH. But I'm glad he's there to hopefully meet up with Splinter. Hoping they both get out of New York and try to track down the guys. But maybe they'll be staying in NYC in order to make things difficult for the Kraang and Foot. I hope we do see that alliance crumble next season. It'd be fun to see a brief Shredder/Kraang battle.

Same here. That twist, even if it was shocking and brilliant, makes no sense! There was not a single hint about it or proof that Irma was a robot all along.

I do hope to see more Leatherhead and Splinter. It was as if Splinter thought of Leatherhead as his son too, because Splinter went into rage mode once he saw what Shredder did. Plus since Splinter didn't know where his sons were, or his daughter Karai, so Leatherhead was the only positive connection Splinter had at that moment. I wish Raphael had broken down the bars in rage near the end of the episode. Another thing puzzling me is the lack of an appearance by Slash. Also, I believe someone brought this up, but where was April's powers for an entire year when she was close to Irma? Very strange.

Good question pertaining to the powers, Jon. I hope we'll find out the answer. Also hoping Kraang Subprime isn't a goner. He's pretty cool. Eh, he's probably dead after being squished and all. Alas, poor Kraang Subprime, we knew him, a brain of infinite craftiness, of most excellent deception. Sorry Shakespeare fans. No more butchering Hamlet. I promise.

(Sorry I have tendency to over analyze things just bear it)

I was finally able to watch it, and like others here watched it like three times a row. I never read the comics, but this makes me want to read the Leo one shot really badly. Animation has truly gotten amazing. I did find a little odd that April couldn't sense Irma being kraang, did not see that coming. And wow… so much emotions given by voice actors.

Raph not going to rage mode, after seeing Leo beaten up, to me it showed some serious development in his part. Not losing control, but instead taking the role of carrying and protecting him. Maybe he bottled it up, when splinter was tossed in the water he could not hold it in anymore, and let it all out. And that gave me the moment where I almost fell from my chair. (I was already on the edge of it because of Leo’s fight scenes) Mikey jumps in to hug him and tells everything’s going to be ok.

That is who Mikey is, the one who refuses to let go of hope, even in the darkest moment. And does not let the others do it either. He keeps pushing them on. Telling they could do it together. And only when hardest fight is over let’s himself have a moment of doubt about their future, and seek comfort from his older brother. So yeah for me Mikey was spot on.

I might be digging too deep with this one, but the scene where Splinter was telling Leatherhead to stop trashing that kraang, was bit similar to Mikey calming down Raph. I started thinking that maybe Mikey is (very very very slowly, in the very distance future) going to grow up, to be as wise as his sensei. Of course without losing his jokester nature, and everything that makes him Mikey. There have been these little wise words from him before. but that's just me thinking too much...

I really enjoyed seeing the bond between Leatherhead and Splinter... The way Leatherhead referred to Splinter as great, showing that he values him as his elder... The way Splinter gained a burst of strength seeing Leatherhead fall, showing that he cares for him as he would family...

The war has only just begun... But I have full faith in Leatherhead's strength, perseverance and heart... I'm very proud of him.

That was the best episode of the Turtles that I have ever seen! In any version! I can't wait until season 3! I can't wait to rewatch these episodes!
I latterly almost cried in several places!

I felt so sorry for Donny over the April thing! Even though I'm not a shipper
Thought it was cool Raph looking for Karri on his own. Shows he cares
Casey has some mad art skills
Liked Raph standing up for Donny
It was nice to see Don and Leo disagree
it was nice to see how the brothers care for each other
I loved the emotional scene with Raph over splinter
Mikey comforting him was awesome.
And at the end Karri Saving splinter was a nice touch!
