Seems like you live in backwards Amiibo world, man. I'm not exaggerating when I say there are probably 20-30 of him at every Walmart in my general area.

If anyone here opens their amiibo and doesn't mind a dented box, my extra Pac-Man is up for trade.

That said, on release, my walmart had plenty. They're all gone now though.

Sweet score, Net.

Nintendo sure announced a lot of amiibo recently. This is getting crazy.

Eight Animal Crossing figures (Isabelle, Tom Nook, KK Slider, Sable, Lottie, Reese, Digby, and Cyrus.) These look adorable. Must-buy for me. Plus when you buy the figures, you can download the amiibo Festival game for free.

Twelve Smash figures split into waves (Palutena and Dark Pit come in July, Olimar, Ganondorf, ZSS, Duck Hunt, R.O.B, Olimar, Bowser Jr., G&W, and the three Mii Fighters are coming out in September. Falco is coming in December, closer or maybe alongside Starfox Zero.) ROB also is colored different, Famicom red and white for Japan and NES grey for the rest of the world. G&W comes with five different poses that you can attach to the base.

Two pixel Mario figures for the 30th anniversary. Classic and modern colors.

Chibi-Robo comes packaged with his game, coming out October 9th.

The AC cards are coming out with the HHD game on September 25th, and the three yarn Yoshis are coming out on October 16th, also alongside the game.

Mewtwo is also probably coming this holiday, and Lucas, Roy, and Ryu are coming in 2016.

I feel like after Smash is done, amiibo in general are going to get easier to find. The SMB series is plentiful, and the single Inklings are common. Good news for the collectors.

GOD, I NEED Isabelle and KK Slider. I might get two more [prolly Reese and Cyrus] for the fesival game since it's free, but they won't be a priority. And I actually like Famicom ROB more than his NES counterpart...

But I will run people the **** over for Duck Hunt and Dr Mario.

There are two new figures coming out, That's part Amiibo, part Skylanders. And its part of a Starter Pack for the new Skylanders Superchargers Game on the Wii U and 3DS. Donkey Kong and Bowser.
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/201..._wii_u_and_wii

The two figures can be used as an Amiibo, by rotating something on the bottom, Which puts it in Amiibo mode.

Nintendo needs to be incredibly careful going forward with Amiibo. I've been Amiibo fan A#1 since day one, but the insane amount of E3 announcements now has me rethinking my investment in the entire thing. The fact that they plan to release so many Amiibo in September is f*cking disgusting.

The waves get progressively more difficult to obtain anything from as people have caught on and hopped on the bandwagon, and now I'm tired of it. Looking at the upcoming list is mentally draining in a way it shouldn't be. I'm starting to hate Amiibo and begrudge my interest in them and I'm hardcore as SH*T about this trash. Nintendo needs to step the f*ck up.

I've always viewed Amibos as glorified DLC that came in small figurines. Sounds like a good tactic to make people with collecting fetishes, such as myself, to buy said figurines. But they won't get me.

Also, not every Amibo is available in every region, is it? Or at least some are more common in certain countries than in others? Someone earlier ITT mentioned that they have never seen a Pacman amibo before. Well neither have I. Had no idea he had one even. Every time I browse the video game section of the electronics stores I visit I mostly see Mario, Diddy Kong and Samus amibos. Although this really doesn't mean much.

They're all available in every region, but supply/demand is obviously way different, not just from country to country, but from store to store, even in a small area. I have two TRU about 10 minutes from me in different directions and the stock differences between them are night and day.

More or less my thoughts on it. There's a very small handful of them that I'd actually consider getting, but it's impossible, so I've dismissed these entirely. If the AC ones are actually accessible, I may get those, but that's it.

Is there an article with stats on amibo sales per region or country? Or if that's asking too much, sales numbers for the USA and Japan? Would be interesting to see which amibos sell better in some countries/regions than others. Ness probably Hasn't sold very well in Europe considering the Earthbound wasn't originally released here. Only a year or two ago in the Wii U VC. I know Ness is in Smash but he wasn't exactly the most popular smash character in Melee. Cannot speak for other Smash games since I have not played them, though. This is just a vague assumption of my part, considering I couldn't think of another character that could be very popular in one place(Japan) and not so much in other(Europe). Wouldn't be surprised if Fire Emblem amibos sold better in Japan, even though FE games began getting released in the west after Marth and Roy were introduced to the world in Melee.

Most amiibo are very hard to come by regardless of region, because they've all sold out almost everywhere. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Pikachu, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Link, Zelda, Sheik, and Toon Link are the ones most people have the easiest time finding here in North America. I've heard Kirby is harder to find in Europe. It's generally accepted that Villager and Wii Fit Trainer are the hardest amiibo to find here, but apparently Europe got more of them.

Yoshi, Samus, Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man can still be found if you put in some time to check a few stores for them, but numbers are lower. All Smash characters are getting amiibo, and most of them have already been released. We're coming in on the final two or three waves. September is a HUGE release for amiibo and I'm dreading it every time I think about it.

All this information applies to Smash amiibo only, by the way. All the Super Mario amiibo are very easy to find except for Toad.

Kinda loving that Bowser one, not gonna lie...but I have yet to buy anything Amiibo-related because I see them all as dead weight in a few years.

When did this get decided on and based on what? Villager and Wii Fit Trainer were never hardest to find, because they existed on shelves for weeks at launch. WFT was available long after the "Marth and Villager are low print and rare" and the "AMIIBO ARE WORTH MONEY!" stories started to happen. In fact, like Marth, WFT even got a more recent restock. The wave 2 rare's - specifically Little Mac, are easily the most rare of all Amiibo. Little Mac had the lowest print run in North America.

Not that it truly matters, because once a unicorn is gone, it's gone and then it just becomes another impossible to find thing. What truly gives them a level of rarity beyond another impossible to find thing is how difficult to find they were in the first place.

THAT BEING SAID...Canada just got a huge unicorn restock yesterday and today and I scored Villager, Marth and Pit at TRU. I could have grabbed Little Mac, Fox and Captain Falcon as well, but I decided not to scalp the place out. Pit is for trade purposes, Marth and Villager will now replace my opened versions.

You say that as if people collecting them give a single f*ck about their functionality. They're popular because Nintendo fans love these characters and want them, not because they can be used as a more difficult CPU in Smash.

It's based on the fact that Marth, WFT, and Villager are called the Holy Trinity. Marth got a restock so I didn't include him, and I don't know if WFT's restock has made it to the States yet. Little Mac got a restock so I didn't mention him either, but I don't know much about Captain Falcon's availability.

Ugh I still need and really want Fox and Captain Falcon...

Dude, relax. I'm aware why they're popular, I just personally am not the type who likes to collect character figurines; I'd prefer drawing them or something. I wasn't bashing Amiibo or people who collect them.

I know, but it still doesn't make them the rarest or hardest to get. And Little Mac wasn't a restock, but a delay of the initial (small) shipment finally making it to stores. Pit and Captain Falcon also showed up in bursts around the same time. Either way, all the unicorns are just as rare now that they simply no longer show up in stores. Nintendo seems to be going full force on reprints for them now, though.

Wasn't trying to be harsh to you, my typing style is just very blunt. Sorry. That said, dead weight implies they will be useless, when they're incredibly popular despite the fact that they're already useless.

Anyways, just got back from a successful trade. Pit for Jigglypuff straight up. I have every Amiibo again now. Now to weep as the biggest and probably rarest wave of the entire Smash set gets released when I'm getting married.

This is reminding me that I had a dream this morning that I found a bunch of Pokemon toys in an abandoned cruise ship. Huh.

Amiibo's have been a rollercoaster ride for me as well, I went from hating the idea when announced, liking them when I saw the pictures, not caring for them when we saw the downgrade last E3, liking them again when they were in stores, mad when I couldn't find any, happy when I was finally able to find some to giving up entirely. My stance now is I'll patiently get the ones I want and if I have to give up Falcon/Pit/Little Mac to get others I want I'll do it.

I don't want a full collection, with how many they're making I just don't have space. I just want some of my favorite characters for my shelf. They'll just be making a few amiibo's per game, we have so many now because they decided to make an amiibo for all Smash characters which has a huge roster but if you look at it other games only get about 3 and counting that Nintendo doesn't even release that many games per year you're not talking about too many. Counting how popular amiibo are I'm sure we'll see many versions of hard to find characters in the future. So yeah I don't want to end up with ten different Mario's so I'm going to try to be careful choosing what Amiibo's I get. In fact I don't have Mario/Luigi/Peach/Bowser/Yoshi which both the Mario Party and Smash versions are the only amiibo's you can find where I live. While I like the Mario Party versions of them a lot I feel like we'll get plenty of them. I already own a very iconic looking Ultra Action Figure of Mario that is the same size and fits very well with the amiibo's. And instead I prefer to get the upcoming 8-bit anniversary Mario amiibo since it looks awesome and to have the 'amiibo' function, I don't need a classic looking Mario one anymore. I'll be trying to get a blue Yarn Yoshi etc. I can hold on on getting a Bowser amiibo since maybe down the line we can get a cooler version like a Paper Bowser or whatever. Maybe instead of tracking down Marth for scalper prices I can wait a few years to have a new Marth mold, he is the most iconic hero of Fire Emblem after all so he's bound to get another one. If I were a fan of chibi-robo I'd get him now since I don't think he'd get another one, etc. And I'll just end up selling an amiibo if there's a better version of it like say we get a cooler looking Fox figure, I'll sell the Smash version for this one. Worst case scenario they'll continue re-releasing Smash amiibo's as their games are released so anyone who missed Fox can get him again this fall in higher quantities etc.

As far as distribution, I Nintendo indeed working on getting more, but you can't just produce more so quickly and they have these things planned months in advanced. They didn't expect this much demand and are just now doubling and tripling orders. Part of the rarity of amiibo's is because of scalpers taking advantage of it, think about it if all those blogs hadn't reported on WFT/Villager/Marth not being able to be ordered any more they probably wouldn't have sold out as quickly as they did and from there on the whole "they're limited" mentality with scalpers took off. Slowly as scalpers see there's more and more they won't be able to buy them all and the price is going to fall, I do see an "amiibo crash" coming in the next few months as Nintendo keeps increasing production of them and re-printing old amiinbo's. After this amiibo sales will drop but I do think it won't kill amiibo's. The whole "intelligent" toy is a real trend and more and more toy companies will make their toys "electronic". After Skylanders and Disney Infinity I didn't think there was a market for more of this and that it would crash like Guitar Hero/Rock Band did years ago but I can see I was wrong the trend is toward normal toys becoming more interactive with technology.
