Looks like the price on mine was just right.
Yeah, mon. Insane... and might regret it : «Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 CGC 9.2 White Pages»

White pages...

First print of vol.1 n°1 to 4, Raph & Fugitoid NEVER had «white pages»; they were printed on newspaper. On the other hand, counterfeit have white pages...

Congrats, Ecto, you obtained the Holy Graal of TMNT fandom!!

Do you know who the guy was, a comic store owner/dealer? Do you know how much it was priced at? When was this (mid 80's I'm guessing 84?)
This was sometime in the 80's (the year escapes me) in NY. The comic shop, however, has been out of business for a long time and was replaced with a locksmith about 12-14 years ago.

And he reads Marvel from time to time, but not that much anymore (I bought him Origin, which was the first thing he's read in about a year). I know that a room in his apartment (which I'm temporarily staying in at the moment) is filled to the brim with old comic books in many boxes in pretty much every closet that I've never really looked at. So, yeah, I guess it's time to go through them and find some cool ****.

Sorry from straying from the topic.

So here's another first print graded at the same mine was, and it went for over $150 more than mine, so I guess these things are appreciating in value.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I showed a comic store owner and he said that yeah it was undergraded and that the reason mine was taken down was because the "yellowed pages" but like someone already said in this thread, none of the originals were print on white pages.

Sorry to ressurect an old thread, and I'm not trying to brag, I just like to follow the first issue prices. Another one at 8.5 went for $1500.

I think they sell for more having been graded--- but it costs a lot of money to have them graded, too, so I dunno.

Yeah, but this one and mine were both graded by cgc at the same grade, and this one sold for more, so

I cracked open the cgc thing though, I hate cgc I just wanted the comic and I wanted to make sure it wasn't fake (and cgc would put fake all over it if it were fake) so it was just a more reliable way of buying a high ticket item.

CGC isn't that expensive though, that's why people do it. It's like $45 and can increase your comic's value by MUCH more.

45 bucks to have a comic appraised is pretty expensive to me. Espcially if my comic doesn't end up being worth more then that. Then what? Then I piad 45 bucks to have that done to my comic and it's only worth 10...

It depends, CGC isn't only for sellers. People get their personal favorite comics graded because they love them and want to preserve them. I'm anti cgc for what it does to the hobby (marks up comics at an unreasonable price). But I do see why some would value it.

And for sellers, it's their responsibility to realize the comics audience, and whether it'll sell or not. Depending on the grade it receives, like a 9.8 will ALWAYS sell, but a low grade will definitely limit the potential buyers.

So it's a gamble like basically anything else in life.
