Ok, let me tell you this. Turtles don't reproduce with a turtle and lay only one egg, and then find someone else, it isn't there nature and it is absolutely retarded. Also, like I said before then they won't be brothers, they would be half-brothers...

That would be just plain weird. I like em with different colors anyway, because each color tends to show off their individual personalities.

The reason they used the multi color ones because it makes it easier to tell them apart. Originally TMNT's bandanas are all red, but I guess that can only work in a comic.

As for the brother thing, Im not sure if they are Biologicaly brother in Mirage, but they are Brothers. The old cartoon didn have that, the TMNT were always talked as friends. Also splinter never alled the sons, only turtles, pupils or students. Well the original cartoon's plot wasn't that deep anyway.

I've actually grown quite fond of the multi-colored bandanas. I'm glad to see the tie in the back long though.

ahem

some clarifications....

The turtles' different skin colors is based on the colors on the original toy lines. If you recall correctly, the old playmates tmnt had those exact skin colors. Mike is dark green, Raph is light green, and Don and Leo are different shades of brown-green.

The turtles to my knowledge were 'brothers' in the mirage line, but this was never known if it was biological or metaphorical.

The turtles were never called 'brothers' in the cartoon (although they were quite often in Archie) and Splinter rarely called them 'sons' (although he did often in Archie).

The reason they could get away with having only red bandanas in the comic was they were in black and white (most of the time). This wouldnt work in a cartoon however.

Mike does indeed look a lil too crazy.

It's basically the Huey-Dewey-Louie effect. If anyone recalls the older cartoons where all three of Donald Duck's nephews wore red, it was impossible to tell them apart. Then they decided to give each one a seperate color. Huey stayed red while Dewey wore blue and Louie was green.

Just a thought, since they don't have initials on their belts anymore (thank you whoever) Maybe the guy'll change the masks/weapons at times to confuse their oponents if they need suprise. I mean they all pretty much seem the same (provided they are all the same color in the show) it would prove a asset in a fight since the opponets would identify their unique style/personnality with the color mask and if its changed(and since they can use each others weapons with a great amount of skill) it would provide an added elemit of suprise.

Lost my train of thought

Well if one was hurt in a fight, lets say Mike for argument sake and Shredder has/wants to fight for some unknown reason, one of the others could just slip on the mask and 'chucks and fight him and he wouldn't know for a few seconds giving his brothers enough time to escape with the injured Leo

Heretic prety much said it, but No the TMNT are not brothers in the cartoon. And splinter never calls them sons. Atleast in the first 170 episodes. They never call each other brothers only friends. They were brothers in Mirage and If I remmber right, in archie too.

The word 'brother' doesn't necessary mean biological brothers (or anything else, adoption).
Remembering the turtles to be the only ones of their kind, woudn't 'brother' be a quite fitting word. If nothing else, It could perhaps enhance the felling that they atleast have, so to speak, a family.
But I'm sure we have all spent a thought about this.
