"Fast Forward" *Season 5 Spoilers* - Page 2

I for one like time travel, I recently bought the Back to the Future Trilogy, my favorite TMNT comic arc is Future Shark. I have Future TMNT in my "Action Figure Play," but....I dunna....I like my TMNT in their own time, a couple time hoping episodes here an there, cool, but a whole season...yikes...

The whole Turtles in the future thing is intrestin'. I probably wouldn't wanna watch a whole season of the TMNT in the future. It would get really old really fast. I just hope the writers know what they're in for and they don't bore the fans. If this doesn't last a whole season, then it should be at least a five episode story arc IMHO.

Since there are aliens it would be interesting to see a Protoceratops (Ceri) or even an alien fox (Ninjara!) or lizard (Mona Lisa) or a talking orange kitty or a bunch of talking orange kitties (ok I've watched WAY too much Kim Possible

Either way this is all speculation over something that won't happen till fall 2006.

By the end, they decided that the most dignified thing to do was kill off Xena, permanently, with a mess of arrows and decapitation. I guess you could write it off as a "greek tragedy," if you really wanted to, but the real tragedy is the death of a show due to shortsightedness.

"seaQuest DSV" did the time leap too, and that was pretty much the end of that.

However, TMNT is different... well I would hope anyway. The franchise has already gone in so many directions-- forward, backward, away from the home planet, etc-- that maybe they know more about what they're doing. Maybe they've got a plan. That's all they really need to keep it going; it's what those who failed in the 'time leap' were lacking. Anyway, how can you write Leo for years and not understand the value of a plan?!

It does sound to me like this 99-year leap spoiler is more of a thought-out plan than a desperate attempt to rescue a dying series. That, at least, is promising.

A big time jump effectively destroys the collection of established characters. Any characters who are not dead will, with few exceptions, be very old, and other characters may be represented by their descendents, such as Cody. It sounds like only the TMNT wil be there. Oh...

This...sounds bad. I mean it could work but I dunno it sounds like they are grasping at straws. I mean didn't we already do time travel (we had Renet and Ultimate Draco) why push that card even more? It sounds like they are going "ugh...it's getting boring let's do time travel!". I mean in some shows it worked but in others they just stuck that in there just for a boost.

I don't believe it's losing it's edge. What they have right now works. Why ruin that?

I depends on what happens and how long it'll last for. With 'Turtles in Space', that lasted for about 5 episodes. Maybe this will be another fiver?

But if it's going to last for the whole series, maybe the turtles get sent back from the future, but some guys that are tailing them follow them and so on. To me this sounds a two-way possibility - one way going on the right track, the other heading for a cliff. But I'm sure they will pull it off

Hey, whatever works. TMNT has been good, IMO at taking whack concepts and spinning them into gold--or something worthwhile. Yes, I do not like the concept of time travel. That whole premise sounds screwy to me. Then again, I do not like the concept of magic. And yet, the show has taken so much of what I normally find irritating and makes it highly enjoyable.

I will wait until I've seen the new season. Right now, I think the series is in its prime, the writing has been great this season, and I trust the people who are making this show. It will jump the shark when it jumps the shark.

I'm interested in seeing where this goes. While time travel has started to kill off some good characters, I think that the writers of the new series will make it very interesting. Right now, though, I'm more worried about seeing where this season goes!

I kinda worried too.
Although pretty much everything have been working fairly well (the minuses come from the repetitiveness of Shredder's return), I really wonder how the writer will it off this time.

Hmm... I sincerely hope those kids won't be stealing the TMNT's spotlight... unless they are interesting and have enough depth to get our attention.

The possibilty of no April, no Splinter and no Casey is a real bummer, but we've lived through a few EPs without them, so I guess a story-arc (or *gulp* the whole season) without them can still be bearable. It's just that I really got attached to April.

Personally, I can't wait to see that season!

I think your all worried it's going to turn into the new comic book and fail....I don't think peter would totally do that and think it would move allot faster animated wouldn't it....?
I have hopes for this so for once I'm going to dissagree with you guys and say this will be allot of fun....man if anyone else is like me let's start begging peter to please bring his character Armagon into this show man that would be sooooooo awsome.
Also I like the idea of them training kids because they did in the archie series as well. I would love to see the tmnt fight zombies and stuff like they did in the acrhie series.I hope future don wears that robe peter so often draws him wearing that would be great to get a toy of that....seriously the best future turtles by far has been archie so I hope he atleast takes something from it!
btw for the person that mentioned splinter he was listed as one of the characters for that toy line so I dount they wouldn't have him in the show.

For those of you interested, I have corresponded with Dan Berger, the official Ninja Turtles media officer, who has had this to say following my critique on the potential pitfalls of time travel related story arcs with the TMNT:

There's no dearth of ideas, I assure you. You have valid points why the direction could be bad, but I suggest waiting to see the episodes before judging it.

The entire season has been written and is in production, so there's no going back from here - let's have faith that Lloyd, Peter and the writing crew won't be "jumping the shark" in season five - they've all done a great job thus far.

Ack, the fact that the entire season will be set in the future sounds like the TMNT is in grave danger!! In addition to the points that Iris made (which I think were very accurate and insightful), time travel introduces many plot holes because due to the fact that anyone can time travel at any point, means that history can be erased and re-written numerous times, resulting in many "alternate futures" and "alternate pasts".

For example, the Shredder could travel back in time to kill the Turtles before they mutated to prevent them from becoming the heroes they've become. Then the Splinter could go back in time, and kill Ch'rell's Utrom parents before he was born to prevent the Shredder from committing his crimes. Then Ch'rell's Utrom parents could go back and destroy the Utrom race at their conception, who could in turn go back and destroy the very first organism that evolved, making it that life never existed in the first place. Can you see where I'm coming from? Time travel is ALWAYS asking for trouble...

I totally agree with dan I think allot of people are really way to hard on them....this shows really good the only other show that gets my attention on saterday mornings is sonic x.....and even thats boring compaired to tmnt

Just because it's interesting now doesn't mean that they can't make mistakes. And I have to agree with the general populace on this one that the time travel story arc is shaping up to be a mistake of monumental proportions.

Don't get me wrong - I love the TMNT and want it to succeed, but this is without a doubt going to be a make-or-break decision by the writers... If they screw it, that's going to be the end of TMNT as we know it...
