I think he may be talking about how EXTREME NINTIES!!!!! a lot of image characters were. The idea of a team made up of mutilated freaks sounds like somthing they'd have been doing at the time. Deathwatch was a pure ninities villain.

I'm very very glad it's being republished!

Eastman still has POWER????

I mean... Wow-- I doubt I'll get it myself, I've never been into bloodbaths (though a friend of mine and I did manage to survive "From Dusk 'Til Dawn")-- but I'm surprised that he could still be allowed to "republish" it or whatever. I guess I should read up more on exactly whom controls what.

Kevin still holds the rights to republish anything he created. Bodycount was just him and Simon Bisley, no Peter Laird nor anyone else at Mirage.

Yeah but it is a solo Turtle adventuring with Casey. And the Turtle in the adventure is quite angry.

"Peter's redoing his stuff, so I'm gonna redo mine." That's what I got from this lol.

I think there should be a Bodycount movie haha, yeah I'll stop fooling myself, I know.

I think that should probably read:

"Peter's reimagining our stuff, so I'm gonna republish mine."

Laird's retoning, reinking, rewriting and in some events even replacing the stuff he and Eastman worked on. Eastman is just straight up republishing his own material with no alterations, so far as we know.

I'm just a little confused by everyone's "Image TMNT was soooo Image," when it was pretty effing far from that. Either in art, content, or otherwise -- which is kind of strange, really. I tend to think Eastman/Laird/Mirage were kind of hoping they would Image-up TMNT in Vol. 3 (Jim Lee/Liefield-esque art, full color, chromium collectors covers), but the team Larsen put together for it seemed to have no interest in that.

And I don't remember reading any other Image comics where the main characters get mutilated, so I'm just wondering which ones they were referring to.

Mm, OK, I'll grant you that. Savage Dragon lost a hand (but he regrew it... he has that ability), but I don't remember Spawn getting dismembered... disfigured, sure... but his character has always been disfigured -- the guy is like a super-powered Phantom of the Opera, with a bit of Batman thrown in to boot.

Actully both of savage dragons arms where blown clean off I have every issue I like my green guys hehe.
Dragon also gets killed and has to come back.
Yes Spawn has been that way from the start and keeps getting blasted and changed throughout the entire series.
I'd say both of those examples are more extreme than anything that happend to the turtles.
There was also that horrid Mars attacks Image comics where tuns of characters die.

I'm going to get it. Gotta have it for my collection, and Bis is awesome. I loved his work on Lobo. And even though alot of his stuff seems to be a bit "chunky" nowadays, I still like his work.
I'm hoping against hope here, but I realy hope this is a foot in the door for them rejoining for a future project.

Just FYI, this isn't the first time it's been collected in TPB -- Image did collect it in a TPB a long time ago. Super rare, though, and you'd be hard-pressed to find it (same as the Image TPB that collects TMNT Vol. 3 1-5).

I don't see everyones issue with the Image turtles. All you Laird nuts don't need to worry because it's non-cannon*Though thanks to Laird over half the turtles comics published aren't* Sure the turtles get dismantled but it's a great change. I like the ideas it's new and fresh. I'd take more Image over Volume 4 anyday.

Well Spawn's origin involves him being burnt to a crisp.

I don't like the Image comics/90's style of everything being extreme and kind of mean spirited. The Mirage comics (that I've read anyway, from issue one up to The River and then Tales vol. 1 and a few of the new Tales) are of course pretty violent, but at the same time you have some more light-hearted material thrown in every so often which helps keep it from getting too dark. That's probably why I can't get too far into the Spawn comics either, it's just way too dark and mean spirited for my tastes. Punisher is about my limit when it comes to the darker, ultra-violent spectrum of comic stories.

I'd have to check out Danger Girl. It looks like it may be interesting, but I've never gotten around to reading it.

As far as recent Image stuff, I like Invincible. Definitely far from the stereotypical 90's Image comic.
