You guys will be lucky if the NECA line continues past the inevitable Casey and Splinter figure, because I don't see NECA making endless TMNT characters.

Aside from April/Shredder/Foot/Elite....they'll probably make Splinter, Casey, a Triceraton and some other character like Leatherhead and call it quits there.

I think some of you need to realize NECA doesn't let its toylines last forever and they've ended plenty of their other series for various reasons. The NECA toys will probably never go past Mirage's core cast and even then we're lucky if we ever see "Leatherhead" or a "Triceraton" at all.

Being too optimistic will lead to your disappointemnt.

I could but I don't want to do that. You could also make customs of every TMNT character they won't make if you wanted too.

It would have been an easy as hell variant, and yet they didn't do it.

umm...they'd still look like updated versions of the OT toys, and thats all I want.

skip Movie Turtles, I want movie SHREDDER. We've never even had a Movie Shredder.

Super Shredder counts!

But yes, a normal movie Shredder would rock -- with sparkly red paint for the outfit. Or, better yet, sparkly purple paint and that helmet with extra spikes!

If you want things to keep bringing in money and lasting a long time you're going to have to give in at some point and come to the realization that both the old toon and Archie series and heck even the old video games and toys are what people remember more about the TMNT than the Mirage comics.
Am I saying they shouldn't just make Mirage based figures? No, but it would be foolish not to step outside into the other universes and make characters people have been begging to have in plastic form for years like Armaggon.
But this wouldn't be the first time a foolish business decision was made involving TMNT action figures.

You're funny they have a set contract with this company for awhile, read below:
Quote:
Murph says:The NECA license is incredibly broad. It includes all iterations of
all characters from all universes.
The schedule, though, is pretty modest at the moment.
The contract goes for 3 years I think, pretty standard.
The interesting thing in that we've just granted them an expansion of
the contract so that it includes lots of weird little items,
everything from stickers to posters to lamps. However, they have yet
to submit designs for any of 'em.

You make the purple a variant. Then we're both happy.

Mirage in general is just a series of foolish business decisions.

Nooo! PencilYoda is awesome!!!

In actuality, he's a candy dish. But when I used it for that purpose I ate too much candy, so I filled it with pencils.

Well ok maybe it might be unwise not to step into creating action figures from that universe and I guess it might be pretty awesome if NECA did that. I really would love to see Rocksteady, Bebop, Krang, Rat King (red sky) and classic Shredder in extreme detail. My only worry is that if they start coming out with random characters like Playmates did in the 90's.

You seriously think NECA would do that? Their lines never last long enough to do the kind of stuff.

I would like to see OT toys if longevity permits, but if not I'll be just dandy with the Mirage toys.

Hey, a movie Shredder is pretty much a given. a 6 figure movie assortment... the 4, Splinter, and Shredhead. And maybe if successful enough, Tokka and Rahzer. Much as I would like to see Casey and April (the Judith one), I could wait for them.

I don't see why they can't cross release OT turtles with mirage Turtles once they start running out of Mirage characters. Just to keep the line pumping.

Nothing in this line is a given, and that's the point a few of us are making, and the larger number seems to be ignoring. Based on interviews from Comicon, NECA's taking this line one wave at a time. The first time a wave fails to meet whatever sales standards they have, the entire line ends for good on a dime.

So no, nothing's a given, not even April and the Mousers, which we've *seen* prototypes of. If sales are high enough on the Foot wave, we'll likely see her in Wave 3, but that's only a likely...

... Not a given.

I meant that Shredder is a Given in the highly theoretical line up of Movie figures. I.e. I't a given I wanna see Shredder allong with the 4.

And I know that we shouldn't get our hopes up to high, since other than the 4, there really aren't that many characters from Mirage that the common person would buy. I think if anyone wants more obscure characters from Mirage, they should be Convention exclusives or something with a limited release.

Oh... well.
Then, that's different.

I really feel like I'm poo-pooing on everything, but with a company like Neca, anything more than "ultra-conservative" is getting your hopes up.

Sure, *anything* is possible, but very little is probable. Neca's good for pumping out exclusives thus far, since everything's been repaints/repackaging of the turtles... with the exception of the Mouser 3-pack, which I see as a double-edged sword.

On the one hand, it's technically new product. It also means there's a mold for the Mousers, which could be proof that April has also gotten to that stage. Once a mold is made, it's certain to get a release... all the expensive costs have already been incurred. On the other hand, I heard a rumor from a friend at San Diego that we shouldn't get our hopes up for open-jaw mousers... the mold made for San Diego *might* be the one used for the April pack... or the opening mouth may have been a cost-prohibitve in case they never get around to producing that April.

Like I said... nothing is guaranteed. For all our sakes, I really hope sales remain as high for the Foot Wave as the first. I realy want more of this stuff!

I don't thinku have to worry them bring out Shredder, Foot Soldiers, and Elite Guards is a very smart business move.
And even smarter is the using of the same body parts to cut down on cost, even if I personally don't like it.

I would say that the TMNT, Splinter, April, Shredder, Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang are smart sales bets for OT, but I would be very, VERY surprised (but pleased aand speaking with my wallet) to see it go further than that.
