The thing I don't understand is what is so funny about Spongebob.... I've watched it before and I don't think it's funny at all. Can someone clue me in here?

I don't get it either. Personally I'm of the opinion that it's only funny if the person watching it is stoned. Otherwise, I don't see what there is to laugh at.

I watch it, and while I enjoy it at times (any with merrmaid man) I don't understand why its so popular. Ren and Stimpy would beat him to a bloody plup

I've watched my siblings watch SpongeBob, and while it's not something I'd watch regularly, it does have a type of stupid, obscure humor that you just can't believe you're laughing at.

But I totally agree that I enjoy the humor of the new show more than the old show. Still like the old show, it still makes me laugh, or rather, giggle. But the new show holds me on so many different levels, not just with the humor. See, I get bored rather easily, so if the show was "all humor" or "all action" I'd get very bored, it's repetitive. Variety is the spice of life, people! And come on, in the old show, Raph never would have admited he's seen a naked guy.

Not saying you have to like the new show better than the old one, but I do.

BTW, I also get all up in arms whenever someone calls them amphibians (except when they do it on purpose, like how in the show they keep calling them frogs and such, as a gag.) Course, it doesn't help that both Raph and Baxter have used the term "amphibious" to describe the turtles, which could be rather confusing.

It must be because i'm a big fan of the old cartoon which i grew up with.

sure the old show was funny. Back then. I was just watching some. I love them but the humar is old and for kids. In this forum people bitch and moan about nano. Almost all the old show was like nano. I think this new show is funnier. To a 16 year old it gets old hearing about marshmello pizza 15 times. Iv honestly tried marshmello pizza its not that good. Dont get me wron i love the old show, but the new show is for older people and have the comedy for old people

Why is that? I know that I like the humor in the new show, but I don't quite understand why today's kids wouldn't do that too...
