Why didn't the OT incorporate more of the playmates mutants into the OT?

I have no idea why they did't but they should have. Many of them were, but a lot of the cooler ones like Scale Tail, Wyrm, and Scratch weren't. But Honestly I think many if not all of the playmates toys characters would have worked. Halfcourt could have been a mutant basketball player that had gone to the zoo and touched a giraffe, Hotspot a fireman's Dalmation and Dr. El could be a cursed witch doctor or whatever.

Remember, the old toon had a small rogues gallery:

1) Shredder/Krang/Bebop/Rocksteady/Foot as the main villains

2) General Traag and Rock Soldiers

3) Baxter Stockman

4) Rat King

5) Leatherhead

6) Slash

7) Metalhead (only in 2 episodes)

8 ) Rahzar and Tokka (only 1 episode)

9) Tempestra

10) Grounchuck and Dirtbag (only 2 episodes)


Then the gangsters:

1) Big Louie

2) Pinky McFingers

3) Mad Dog Mcmutt

4) Don Tortelli

It's my personal belief that more Playmates figures weren't incorporated into the show was to avoid the cartoon being labelled purely as an advertising medium to keep pushing the toys. Of course that's what cartoons back then were designed for, but I feel they wanted that fact to be less overt.
