I gotta admit, Farley's one of my least favourite TMNT artists, but seeing his style in 3-D looks amazing - not just the sculptwork, but the paints, too.
Are you going to make Raph & Mike in the style of other artists? It'd be neat to see the whole team in different styles...

Beautiful work, I can't wait to see the next one.

Hate to have a quip about it, but I agree with Vaughn. Still though, it's a small detail.
Really? I'm having a hard time seeing what you guys are seeing. What specifically do you think is off about it? Is it the two pointy sections of the upper lip maybe? I've noticed that while some of his works display the same pointy lip look, some others display a more subdued version, a handful of pics even display flat lips whith the bottom lip protruding. While researching, I found that the style of his turtles mouths vary throughout his work. I based my mouth style from the issue #48 reference (look at turtle on bottom right corner of the cover). I also used images from his first solo issue, men of shadow as well as the bust he sculptured himself.

It's the angular peaks pointing downward that seem off, almost gives the illusion of fangs. Maybe if they went up instead it'd seem better.
I dunno.

The thighs and shoulders could be a bit beefier, but I get that you can only en-beefen them so much before the joints won't work. Brilliant work nonetheless!

Did you hear anything back from Farley on this one?

Lol, en-beefen, I like that! You are absolutely correct. You have to be careful when it comes to the joint/articulation areas. Too much addition of material around those parts renders them useless.

Not yet. I'll give him some time. I'm sure he's a busy man.

Love both of your turtles. Can you shed some light on the paint jobs? I'm a terrible painter and can use all the help I can get.

Thanks!

Here's how I paint:

1. Wash figure with warm water and dish soap to remove any oil/dirt
2. Paint in layers by order. Base coat, drybrush, wash.
3. Start with the fleshy area followed by clothing, shells, hair, etc.
4. Touch-up where needed.

I like to use high quality acrylic paint. Many others just use the cheap apple barrel or other cheap craft paint, but I believe you get what you pay for.

Hope that helps.

This is really incredible one of the best Ninja Turtle figures ever made custom made or factory. I knew right away it was a Farley Turtle. I can't wait to see what you make next.

Did you see his Lawson Mikey? It's great. I'd say better than the Farley one.
