And, yes, I remember Leo losing that chunk of shell and thought it was symbolic of not only a physical reminder of what he and his family went through, but a symbol of the chip on his shoulder as he carried that burden of failure throughout most of season 4.

He didn't heal "perfectly" though. The chip was still visible after he came back from Japan, so we know it didn't heal right away. It took some time.

Leo, vanilla? No way. Being the spiritual one shouldn't mean he's boring. They should have added a little more to his design like a scar from practice or something. I think he has a great sense of humor, funnier than Mikey. In his bio under hobbies he's quoted as saying "No time. I like candles if that counts."
