I was thinking that too. Hopefully they are made of rubber so they won't snap off.

It looks much smaller than the Turtle Copter. I thought it was a reuse of the Pogo Copter, but the details are different.

The Flinger Figures remind me of the Fast Forward Toys that had the same feature. Good to see Playmates will always go back to the well....makes Mutatin' figures almost a certainty.

Very interesting. Thanks to everyone for posting all the news and photos in one place.

The news that Playmates are investigating a second series of Classics figures is most excellent!

I'm not a fan of the Ghostbuster Turtles. While I'm generally not a fan of any turtle variants which aren't screen-accurate, I still have to wonder whether they could have chosen variants which fitted the new TV series a little better. Maybe "Black Ops" turtles. Or some kind of "armoured/robot" variant for fighting the Kraang. Or even the classic "trenchcoat/disguise" variants.

What I was really hoping for was some "deluxe" variants with all the original painted details from the proto-types and possibly new head-sculpts with painted eyes, etc.

Stinkweed and Baxter both look good. At least at proto-type stage. Baxter doesn't have too many paint apps, so he shouldn't change too much, although he may be out of scale. I'm guessing that Stinkweed will be out of scale, have a very dull final paint app and possibly be very fragile.

The other variants and vehicles don't interest me, but that POP UP PLAYSET! Now that is totally tubular! I think that's my only "must have" from the new products, but it really is a fantastic concept. A playset that can be easily stored, but is great for display and play.

I'm prone to agree, sir. I wonder how frequently we're gonna see these new head sculpts on other (slightly) modified "variant" bodies

That one set of variants looks like Pizza Tossin' Meets Fightin' Gear, did anyone else catch that?

The Turtle variants look REALLY bad this time around IMO. Maybe it's jut that the basic ones were much better, but these just look so babyish and ugly. Are they even sticking to their "Every turtle is different" rule? They all look the same. I wonder if they have all of their original articulation...(doubt it).

I actually like the way the ooze turtles look and will probably pick them up. I love the Baxter Stockman and will buy Snakeweed too! I wish there were more villains though...I guess there aren't many characters that they could make from the episodes we have seen so far? Maybe when more news comes out there will be a couple more figures. I really hope the Classic line has a second series too! I honestly don't know why they wouldn't. Clearly they are making money off of them with how hard they are to find.

I kind of like the Mutagen Ooze Turtles just due to their designs sorta reminding me of the Ghostbusters, but I've got a hard time picturing myself really going out of my way to buy them.

Snakeweed and Baxter Stockman are definite buys, though.

Unsure of the vehicles, though they do look pretty cool. As long as they're not overpriced (was able to get the Rippin' Rider and Skateboard for $9.99/ea) then I'll definitely consider them.

I like the fact that the new turtles have new heads and the feet are corrected. I'm sure that in time we'll see "normal" updated versions with the new heads and feet.

Why do people get so annoyed at the variants? This has been the TMNT model from day 1. Would you rather they rerelease the same 4 turtles all the time with a new figure thrown in occasionally? We're talking about a show with a kind of limited cast, and if it were the same toys on the pegs for the life of the line, people would stop looking all together. I'm all for variants that are fun and attract attention.

Depending on the price, I'm going to get that play set for sure since I didn't get the sewer.

My problem with the variants NOW is they are boring. Back in the day, Playmates gave us some stellar, off the wall, variants that were new sculpts and looked fantastic. Now Playmates Turtle variants are dull as dishwater, with the same head sculpts and some additional sculpted details added to the existing sculpts.

Oh my gosh! I . . . I . . . I have no words. Well, I might as well get down to it. I might be better off using spoiler tags, for a few of them, but there are ones that I think are cool to look at.

Spoiler:

I am with everyone on here. I'm not going to get any turtle variants unless it is appealing and awesome. These I'm passing on. When I see Leo, I think "Ghostbuster," so it's not a bad toy, especially for kids. But Raph as Popeye and Don as a firefighter? What is this? Rescue Heroes? Plus, these ones don't look as poseable as the first basic figures. The only thing I like about these is their heads. If there were any way I could pop these off and apply them to the bodies of the first basic figures, then we'll get 2k12 turtles. Still, I'm happy with the figures we got last time. I don't need these ones. It would be a waste of money to get these ones just to swap heads anyway. Sorry. Maybe Playmates should make the turtles from the series WITH pupils. I like the Power FX turtles, but I want ones that don't constantly talk and ones that actually pose well. So Playmates, if you happen to visit this place, listen to us. We want basic turtles that look like the ones from the show. We want them to have eye balls, head sculpts that resemble their faces on the show, and also give them their real pawed feet. Give us that, please!

The best figures of the series! I am totally buying these! Baxter looks amazing, and I can definitely see the detail in the T-pod. Also, Snakeweed is awesome. It may not be with the scale or size he had on the show, but I'm still happy we're getting him.

Attachment 3687

Yeahhhh. I'm avoiding these ones. Leo and Mikey look promising, but I'm not a fan of the Raph and Donnie. Plus, I don't think the armor around the ankles are necessary, especially if the turtles are wearing bandages.

Pop Up Display

Now THIS is a playset! I love this! This may look like the least expensive of turtle playsets, and it may not be only at Toys R Us this time. Totally purchasing this one. Just to think pop-up playsets were for only Matchbox cars, Playmates has proven us wrong. This looks like fun.

Ooze Drop Copter

This looks interesting. However, I wish it was actually a helicopter to fit all turtles in. I don't know about this one. I have mixed feelings. While Leo looks cool inside, it does appear to look like that copter from the mini turtle figures that were released after the 2k7 movie. However, I wouldn't mind dumping things on villains. It's worth a shot. Plus, the Ooze Cruiser looks cool. I love the water piece on the bottom. I'm guessing you can rev this vehicle up, am I right? That one I'll be getting.

Mutant Ooze Refills

I usually don't buy ooze, but I like this. The baby turtles look cute, too. Maybe I can use the ooze to interrogate anyone of my choosing (just like Raphael did).

Turtle Comm (T-Phone?)

Now this looks great! I know it's for kids, but somehow, the kid in me wants to pretend he's talking to the turtles. Definitely a worthy purchase.

While most of these toys look great, I hope this doesn't hurt their sales. However, it's TMNT. All the toys are like this in the long run.
