Great episode. Ah the memories. All the character had much fuller personalities in the first five episodes. It's an awful shame the quality couldn't keep up after that, but the episodes after that have their own kind of subtle charm to them.

Anyone bother telling me why the format of the old cartoon was changed after the first season? I may have an idea but I just wanna make sure I have it right.

Oh, and haven't any of you guys wondered why Rocksteady doesn't have his helmet anymore?? He looked cool with it.

The first 5 episodes were directed by a guy named Yoshikatsu Kasai, there was a lot more work going into them as well than the rest of the show

I have not seen this episode in such a long time. It is one of the best TMNT episodes ever made.

The humor and action were great.

And the animation was done by well known Japanese studio Toei Animation. The fine people that brough you Dragonball/Z/GT, Sailor Moon, Digimon, M.U.S.C.L.E. and many other famous animes.

While I don't think this is the BEST episode of the old series ever made, it is still considered a classic in this fan's eyes for what it brought to the table.

I loved the Roadkill Rodney characters. It's a shame they only showed up in one episode. They went on to have lives in all the video games, but they were great additions that could have packed some punch in the old show.

I've always wondered, too, why Rocksteady got rid of his helmet after the first five episodes. Maybe it got smashed when that light pole fell on his head courtesy of Leonardo's katana.

I know some people on here really like the animation, but I'm glad they changed it after the first season. I don't like Anime at all, and one of the things they did right (in my opinion) was get rid of the Japanese artists and freshen up the animation. My favorite looks of the Turtles are from the seventh and eighth seasons.

One of the best, (if the THE best) episodes of the show. Krang's first appearance, The Technodrome's first appearance,and B&R's first appearance.

Also, who could forget the infamous "Go suck a lemon" phrase from Raphael?

Or the infamous " their mutations didn't up their IQs any" phrase from Donatello?

Or the infamous "that dude's driving Shea Stadium" phrase from Michelangelo?

I don't remember Leo's quotes, he didn't say much. I may be wrong, though...

Any way, awesome episode!

That's the previous episode, but I agree!

As for "Enter the Shredder" the thing that always comes back to me is how tough Bebop and ROcksteady were portrayed after the Turtles escaped from the Technodrome. Sure, all the atuff inside the Technodrome was really cool, but the Turtles didn't really spend too much time in there throughout the rest of the series. On the other hand, Bebop and Rocksteady were constantly battling it out with the Turtles later on.

My point is that this fight should've been the blueprint for later fights between Bebop, Rocksteady, and the Turtles later on in the series. Even if gun usage was toned down (and it was) for the rest of the series, still having them be a force that needs to be out-smarted instead of directly approached was a concept that was thrown away pretty quickly after the first season. I really liked how they had to be out-msarted in "Enter the Shredder" and would have liked to have seen that outside of the first season.

Okay, so I can forgive a direct approach in the later stuff (like Season 7) because the Turtles have had seven more years of martial arts training directly-applied experience in their battles with the Shredder.

Overall, I realy liked "Enter the Shredder" but the fight I just mentioned is the part that sticks out the most to me.

This episode is not as good as the first episode, the humor isn't as well done as it was in the first episode. Its awesome to see the turtles actually inside the technodrome, that didn't happen too often and always felt like a special occasion. Rocksteady and Beebop didn't feel like that big of a threat in this episode, I remember them feeling like a bigger threat in their first appearance.

Random thoughts:

Rocksteady seems smarter as a human. Actually he doesn't seem too dumb as a mutant in this episode either, not as much as he becomes anyway. Beebop both as human and mutant was already dumb although he does get dumber.

I found it odd that the gang didn't want to volunteer for the experiment after Shredder promised them power however they do after he promises them revenge on the turtles. I mean if they were ninjas then you could say it was their warriors pride however as just thugs I'd think they'd rather have power.

I love this episode, it's probably my favourite.

The Turtles have a great fight in the Technodrome and in the zoo with Bebop and Rocksteady. And this episode has one of my favourite quotes:

Shredder: "Your hairy little friend knows me as Oroku Saki. But you may call me the Shredder."

Raphael: "A kitchen utensil?"
