That almost killed the whole franchise to me, because it's prime Twilight Zone/nightmare fuel territory (and not in a good way.) I could have watched anything, but that.
It doesn't sound strange. Am I right in guessing you became a fan with the comics prior to the cartoon? Or something of that nature. I can understand how it would look like the 1987 cartoon was in no way shape or form the same universe as the comics. Too censored, too slapstick.

I would feel the same way if it was a crossover between 2012/2003. I saw a bit of the 2003/1987 one and I couldn't watch it. I resist anything 2003 based because to me, they don't feel like any version of the turtles that I'm familiar with.

You resist a quality cartoon simply because it's not like the others? How bizarre. Nobody wants to watch something that's exactly the same as something else.

Well, I became a fan through the OT cartoon, although I'm not as big a fan of it as I once was (I'm more into the darker and grittier stuff.) What I'm actually objecting to is the idea of a Turtles multiverse and it' concoction of a 'Turtle Prime,' especially as the destruction of this 'Turtle Prime erases all existence. It says out loud, "Don't pretend that this is a real world, this is explicitly a cartoon and the product of someone's imagination, and we'll make sure we get that across." It also tries to tie everything together and have it exist all at the same time a la Marvel and DC, and doesn't allow a story, show or movie to be merely a different 'take' on the Turtles. That's what I'm dreading in this crossover, that they'll keep pushing the idea of a Multiverse instead of just allowing each show to be it's own 'take on the Turtles. I never liked Multiverses as a construct in franchises, as it's a cheap way to link everything together instead of allowing everything to be unique on it's own. Plus you have the (implied) thousands of dopplegangers of a character existing at the same time, which destroys what uniqueness they have. That's why I never liked them.

I agree...I liked the concept to Turtles Forever. But when it got into that whole multiverse that covered the various incarnations and alternate realities and how they all stemmed from the Mirage comics. That felt really off putting.

Think of the video game Kingdom Hearts which brings together the universe of Final Fantasy and the Universe of Disney and some how makes its own story where the universe is ruled over by Mickey and Minny Mouse who reside King and Queen.

And then throughout the game you encounter all these different worlds and each world is associated with a different Disney film I.e. Alice in Wonderland world, Lion King World, Little Mermaid World, Ect. And none of these worlds have a connection to each other before the events in the game.

If they were going to introduce the Turtles Multiverse that way, maybe it would have made a bit more sense.

Its a sad shame for Slash to go bad even though Raph's negativity over his brothers is what drove Slash this way.

Hope there'll be a redemption episode for both Karai & Slash. If Splinter gets captured by the Foot and ends up in prison with Karai torturing him for revenge, Karai and Slash can team up and redeem themselves in helping the turtles saving him.

As for Casey, I wonder how he'll interact with the turtles.

That would've been cool if it had been like Kingdom Hearts in how they did everything. The different versions of the Turtles still interact, but get to be their own separate dimensions/worlds (kind of like Usagi came over from a different dimension in the old cartoon, but was a different franchise out-of-universe.)

I think the whole 'Multiverse' thing as it is now is just some sort of faddish nerd thing that got introduced in the last 10 years. Maybe they'll decide to scrap the idea at some point, and eventually just allow stories to stand on their own.

Metalwolf, I get you completely. While I'm looking forward to that episode in particular, I wouldn't want it to become a regular thing.

Well considering I like the 1987 cartoon, the first live action film, the 2007 film and the 2012 cartoon, which differ from each other in various ways...

If you go to McDonalds and you don't select a certain burger because you don't like it, it's not because it's different, it's because you don't like it.

And I don't like 2003.

Anyone thought of Bradford's story before he became a part of the Foot Clan and before he became Dogpound & Rahzar?

How did Bradford become so famous? Was he involved in a minor scandal and the Shredder offered him his services in getting his career back into high gear?

I have, some. As has been mentioned in the cartoon, he's rich and famous. He either got this way because he was that good at martial arts or he was from a famous rich family (kind of like the Kardashians or Hiltons). Somehow along the way he traveled to Japan (probably on some publicity generating martial arts tour there of 'learning from the masters') since as far as I know the Foot hadn't yet arrived in the States. It is possible he came across Shredder by accident (or Shredder found him) and likely got showed how much better the Shredder was then him. Bradford naturally wants to be the best dude on the block (guy seems to have a massive ego) and so likely begged Shredder to train him, in return he'd be loyal to him and allow Shredder use of his wealth and fame.
