Thus making the universe they inhabit that much smaller and making it revolve around Megan O'Neil.

OMG, I've seen the girl. I've also seen the cartoon. My point was that they may just be doing something closer to what kids know, instead of hitting kids with adult reporter April, right off the bat.

Okay. But they clearly won't be teenagers, like in the current cartoon. Which is what you originally implied.

And my whole problem is that April Fox would meet them/know them BEFORE she meets/knows them as Mutant Ninja Turtles.

For example, if, in the current cartoon, the Turtles were April's pet Turtles instead of Yoshi's(or a random kid's). And then years and years later she meets them as the mutant ninja turtles.

It's just poor writing, trying to connect all the aspects of the universe together or to one character.
