So they didn't bother making individual character silhouettes for this campaign? (Of course they didn't.)

Which Turtle is that copied and pasted four times, anyway?

Just now noticed this.

But we don't know if it REALLY counts. What if they only unlock when the hashtags get tweeted enough times?

Yes... I mean heck I just posted about this over on another forum and the universal response was "no, i'm not doing that" people don't like having to post things on social media to unlock stuff online, it's poor form IMO.

honestly, i still think it counts, because the verbage they used was - "tweet your vote for...", which i am taking to mean, that we are already voting (by clicking on the image), and now they are simply giving us an avenue to tweet about it.

ive been clicking on the Leo one for the past 10 mins, in succession, I wonder how many times i actually voted if it does count?

Yeah, agreed. While social media means that companies can get fans to do a lot of the online promotion for them, essentially forcing them to do it like this is very poor form. If you post good content, the fans will be happy to share it and talk it up. If you make them jump through hoops and do extra marketing work for you to even access that content in the first place? That's just a cheap attempt to make them build hype for you, and it rubs a lot of people the wrong way. And it should, IMO.

i dont know if you guys watch THE LEGEND OF KORRA, if not, you should; but the first two episodes were released online two weeks ahead of broadcast schedule because NICK ran a promo, that if fans voted so many times over a a period of time, they would premiere the episodes online super early. They were expecting votes in the thousands, and got votes in the hundreds of thousands.

we can do this. i want to see NEW footage in HI-DEF. what a great way to start off the week.

So, they don't get credit for getting countless people to tweet about their movie?

i'm not familiar with that promo, but did it require sharing stuff on facebook/twitter/etc.?

lol, people are so naive. OF COURSE that's the end goal. The trailer will be released when they're already planning to release it... Voting a million times isn't going to change anything.

They'll probably release a tally of which turtle "won"... But that's the only thing your tweeting is going to affect.

He's knows nothing. That picture is from facebook and not indicative of how far along we are. He's full of himself.

And in that case, where the fans get actual, full, free content ahead of schedule, something well beyond what's essentially an ad... then sure, I get the appeal. But if they're making you jump through hoops for the honour of them promoting their product to you... then something's kinda backwards here, don't you think?

It's a personal preference thing, but I really dislike this style of marketing - I feel that they should be promoting the movie themselves, and getting social media attention based on the strength of their marketing. Instead it seems they're telling people to do the social media marketing for them, and if you all do a good enough job, then they'll actually promote the movie.

It's an attempt to artificially trend the movie on Twitter, basically. Instead of (potentially) getting that to happen naturally by just releasing the material. I'm just not a fan of the idea on any level. But your mileage may vary.

How so? They went out of their way to give each Turtle specific designs with unique silhouettes, and now they're not using them in their own promotion. I wouldn't even be hard to do, but the online marketing on this movie has a track record of extreme laziness.
