Splinter: "It's been a long time" to April

I also would think, since April befriends the Turtles and Splinter, that would mean those same values would carry on from father to child. Meaning, April and her father are caring to not only people, but animals. So I also firmly believe that it is possible that once April's father found out they were using the mutagen to make fighters out of animals, he seriously pumped the breaks. Maybe even tried to take the research/information he had, and try to expose it to the press. And that would have led to his demise. It'd also kind of be ironic, that he'd try to go to the press about it, and April grows up essentially becoming the press, trying to get all the dirt on Sachs and Co.

That's an equation I see would fit.

Makes me wonder if it will be revealed in this movie or a possible sequel, that all the animal testing is done and they now want to move onto humans. Like many Turtle medians before this one.

You know, I heard this news and thought I would be totally against it, but surprisingly, I'm opened to this idea. It's not too far fetched, while she was not Splinter's daughter in the comics, didn't he once welcome her and called her daughter?

Nope, he's alive. He's in a wheelchair when April, Casey and the Turtles arrived at their home. April gives her mom a vial of mutagen and it curse him of being paralyzed.

Oh my bad. I knew he worked at Stockgen and had a stroke. I haven't read all of the issues though. I doubt very seriously that Splinter is April's father. If he were, he would have tried to find her long before she found him. Also he probably would have been a bit more emotional when seeing her other than just saying "been a long time" I think he's just a rat that maybe April played with and fed when she was a child. Now he's mutated and recognizes her.

I don't know if anyone else read the scene reviews from Comic-Con, but it appears as if April recognizes Splinter before he even says her name. So that may add that she did know Splinter a little bit better than we expected. This is how the article states it:

The movie references game thick and fast when they took her down to their sewer base, which was referred to as, “Our Fortress Of Solitude, our Hogwarts, our Xavier’s Academy.” When O’Neil glimpses Splinter, she knows his name (“What if she’s a Jedi?”). Splinter clearly knows who she is too, ending the scene by saying, “We meet again…” Looks like there might be some new backstory tinkering going on here.

Well, She was a Kid when her father was working in the Lab.

She is probably the ones who gave him his Name and the Turtles, Just like in the IDW comic.
