Wow, serious points to whoever had spotted that bird, I can't believe it really was it. GOOD eye!

And I thought some other mutants were kinda gross...

Love the random Grinch mountain. lol

And guess I learned the actual pronunciation of that word...

Guess what? Another random mutant that only hardcores will be able to remember after this series ends. But all things considered, it isn't too bad. A Chimera as you know is a mythological, multi-animal creature that often comes out of a mountain in a place called Lycia, and this isn't a bad take on that. We get the typical somebody is feeling funny, a random mutant appears out of nowhere, heroes get trapped, the leader must figure out what's wrong while assisting the affected ally, the other dudes need their help, the leader thinks of a brave idea to take a chance and ride the Chimera, makes a bold move underwater, drives it to the place of need by the others, and another Hail Mary rescue occurs while the sidekick gets cured of weird abilities. A fine episode if you haven't seen it as we get a little rooster continuity, but I'm still longing for what's going on in New York/Dimension X, as a cut scene really should be due. At least we get to see some use of the weapons here along with Casey making something out of his powers. I would have liked to see such as event to see what's happened to Splinter/The Foot/The Kraang after a break just to see where things stand. Seeing next weeks preview just looks to be a variation on the same "special ability" theme.

Overall: 7/10

Honestly all these episodes are pretty good as stand-alone episodes, the problem is they're all back to back in a row. I'm willing to bet if these filler episodes were scattered across a season instead of back to back people would have loved each of them.

I actually liked this episode a lot. I love that Leo and April had a bonding episode for once(I promise not to ship them, at least until Karai's story is resolved (joking ). At least it wasn't Donnie. However, I did like how Donnie was with April in this episode. He was himself the entire time. He wasn't trying to be anything different.

It did have some continuation at least, if only it was the same thing with Leo's knee and April's powers again. I had a strange feeling that April would "heal" him in some way and then when he suddenly just stopped and said "Oh, I can stand", I was like What? Why is he suddenly okay out of nowhere?

Maybe it was all psychological and his knee is not even damaged anymore. Hopefully, they will dwell on that a little more in Leo's quest. I liked some of the lines, Raph saying he was glad Leo was the leader again, who would he have to complain about if he wasn't and Mikey's burned bum.

The only problem is that they would have to retconned a explanation on why they are out in the middle of the forest but I suppose they can just include a single line of dialogue "It was sure nice for Master Splinter to let us go camping." Knowing this show, we will probably be back to North Hampton once again but this time it won't be in the middle of a freak'n story arc. You can probably put like two of these episodes after a new episode of them camping and it wouldn't feel out of place.

Is anyone surprise that the guest writer is better at addressing the continuity then the permanent writers of the show?

I really like the idea of geyser instead of a regular volcano but I am not sure if they would be able to breath...ah who cares, I'm just glad that April didn't suddenly learn to possess the bird and gain a new power. Yes she did telekinesis but it was because of Kraang tech, not because she suddenly pull it out of her ass so yup I am not going to complain.

This was a genuinely good episode. It may be a type episode that you have seen before but the execution was solid.

Another thing...did anyone notice that Donnie was using a radio for his experiment? More fuel to my "April's telepathy is electromagnetic base" head canon.

The guest writer was the guy who created Gargoyles and he was very clear about continuity in that show.

In the seconded (cannon) season most of the episodes had a small clip montage telling you which episodes the story was gaining continuity from.

Really enjoyed the episode, seeing Greg Weisman name popped up totally shocked me, I never expected it and he never mentioned it on the Ask Greg Website but he did say he has some work coming up. I hope he writes more episodes and have a few Gargoyles references

Loved the interaction between Leo and April and all the bromance moments.

Anyone catch the foreshadowing the Turtle blimp moment when Mikey said we should make a big balloon.

It just seems like the usual writers forget things but this guy (I am aware that he is an awesome guy in the cartoon industry) actual read past scripts and did his homework.

Although maybe the continuity was just Leo's injured leg.

Not a bad episode but really looking forward to next week.
All those human bones in the nest had me like twas a nice touch!
So it seems April is sort of an animal man (woman) character.
I'm going to be she will be able to control animals when she gets it all figured out and this may really come into play in helping the guys out from stopping animal mutants in future episodes.

Yup!

Glad to get a decent Leo-April episode, nice to see them interact a bit more rather than just co-existing in the same room.

Agree the "oh I can stand now!" moment is a bit...ohhhkay... You dreaming of meteors again? lol

Oh, and then when April is reacting to the thoughts of that monster and basically wanted to eat Leo. Lil' awkward there. Seriously, April, no means no.

Mikey scrapping his butt on the ground, when part of it touched that boiling water, and calling it his tushy.

Is Talbit somebody or something in TMNT? Sounded like the name of the Mountain was Talbit or something.

Anyway, OK episode.

I will say that episode was the best of the horror filler episodes since the Punk Frogs. Bring on the Vision Quest next weekend.

Am I the only one slightly disturbed by the sheer number of human skeletons in the nest, and what the implications of those are. In a short period of time, an inordinate amount of people have been devoured by this creature, and the population of Northampton can't be that large. That's got to be a cause of concern in the region...
