Overall all the recasting just seems like they are reshaping the movie across the board, honestly probably the best thing to do. They tried so late in the game with the first film that it makes sense that they'd take the opportunity to do it from the ground floor with this one.

Given that they are bringing in Bebop and Rocksteady, Krang, and Casey - all elements from previous scripts, and concept art that never saw fruition - its possible that they are just making the film they intended to make in the first place.

They're casting and recasting parts that didn't matter if they were recast or not. The first actors in these roles were mostly fine, what little we saw of them.

It's not a matter of casting, idiots in charge of this movie. It's a matter of how poorly you utilized the actors and characters in your sh*t first movie.

Recasting just because will do nothing to help the awful script you're probably writing.

I think they are aiming to make it like the 80s cartoon with dashes of the Nick cartoon. The most popular versions of TMNT. They're casting to fit what they're trying to do with the story as opposed to casting to fill a role really quick, like the previous Shredder for example.

So how does Noji feel about this? I would be pissed if I was her.

I find interesting how this movie series keeps recasting characters. First the voice actors for Leo and Splinter were changed, then the movie was reshot to make Sacks and Shredder seperate characters, then the actor who played Shredder there was replaced for this one, Baxter made a brief cameo but the actor who played him was replaced and now there's this. I find it amusing that the casting that received the most negative response, Fox as April, is pretty much the only thing that hasn't been subject to change...

I don't think she'd necessarily be pissed, it's Hollywood and it's acting. It happens. Often.

This is incredibly stupid.

How many cast members have they recast for this sequel?

Everyone's probably leaving because working on the first film was such a goddamn train wreck.

I liked Karai in the first one.

Their first mistake.

That's very false, according to Bryan Fuller himself, who said they're "trying to fit [Casey Jones] into the story".

Which just means they're throwing as many beloved characters into it as they possibly can(throwing in Bebop, Rocksteady, Casey Jones, Shredder, Karai, Baxter Stockman, and now possibly Krang proves that), just to further appeal to nostalgia and trick people into seeing it.

Again.

And yeah, if this was any other movie or if the first one didn't exist at all or was at all good in anyway, I'd be super friggin excited.

She seemed genuinely excited to be in it, and what little I saw of her was decent. Just a shame she had next to goddamn nothing to work off and the movie itself was so bad.

Megan Fox in a blonde school girl outfit.

That's why she's still around. That's the only reason.

please no. i hated that origin...whoever came up with that needs their head checked - variations on their origin, fine. even IDW changed it up. but straight up making them another race from another planet - negating the ooze factor. it makes me mad just thinking about it.

Noji was one of the more vocal actors on the first film, that voiced her love of working on the film. so its a shame they replaced her. she didnt have much to work with, and they replaced what should have been a sword for a hand gun, delegating her character to just another goon. shame.

Not necessarily. Like it or not it's what most people think of when they think TMNT. I guess it sucks if you don't like that version but not so much for probably most of the general audience.

And I don't see your point with the quote. They added in characters and they are casting/recasting actors to fit what they want to do. It's as simple as that. Liking the story is a whole other thing.

"Trick people into seeing it"? Lmao. Yeah I don't think it's some weird conspiracy like that. If people like what they see and want to check it out then cool, they can!

According to Deadline, Karai will be Shredder's (Mike Tee) daughter in this film.

Brittany Ishibashi is suiting up for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, Dave Green’s live-action sequel to last year’s hit reboot. She will play Shredder’s daughter Karai in the Paramount Pictures feature from Gama Entertainment Partners and Nickelodeon Movies.

Comicbookmovie.com made a very good point.

Karai's origins are never alluded to in the first movie, but there have been several variations of them over the years.

I'm guessing that the Shredder in the last movie might have been her grandfather.

very true, and Shredder's origin itself (and real name) were never mentioned; so we could very well be looking at an Oroku Nagi / Saki situation here.

Nagi/Saki would be the smartest way for them to get themselves out of that corner.

In the movie, Splinter is not Hamato Yoshi or his pet rat. So Oroku Saki without Hamato Yoshi is pretty useless. The initial story is founded on the Saki/Yoshi relationship.

Last time they had a corner to get themselves out of (American Caucasian Shredder), there was at least one possible solution that would have worked and provided a good movie (Utrom Shredder).

But nah, they made a bad situation worse. Caucasian Shredder would have been far preferable...

I disagree, Oroku Saki is interesting period (though yes, they dropped the ball not including Yoshi from the beginning)

Or they could have done their own thing within the confines of the lore and not attempted to cash in on the nostalgia of people who couldn't care less either way.

"Trying to fit characters in" to a pre-determined story by committee that they probably ripped off again is not the way to go about making a good movie or writing a good script.

But it's already happened long before PD even came into the picture
