The first cartoon doesn't surprise me too much since Asian actors were probably a rather small portion of the U.S. entertainment industry back then, let alone among voice actors. I imagine the casting may change down the road.

In the 80's I don't think anyone in the animation industry knew what Japanese elements were outside kung fu flicks. Even anime was barely a thing in the west besides some old Gundam stuff.

PL and Kevin Eastman flat out said they grew up on Bruce Lee films in the 70's, and even then that's not really Japanese stuff.

I honestly never mind about actors voicing characters with different ethnicity as long as their acting is not annoying or weird.

I don't think I've ever seen a Cubed post that wasn't trying to stir the pot On a side note, I am still raging to this day that sonic was not voiced by actual hedgehogs. Hedgehog discrimination is real people!

First Bruce Lee movie I watched, though I think it's named something else in the US. I was told the title was switched with another of his movies but then I read some other title altogether.

Yank title was Chinese Connection

Mr Suzuki has samurai swords and the usual nunchucks scene but there are no sais to be seen in it

After Lee died there were imitators galore , in "Ninja strikes back" theres a sai scene (starring imitator Wong Kin Lung aka Bruce Le)
