ya I find most of Christopher Nolan's movies Boring and long winded. I don't like movies where everything needs to be explained to me.

Good to hear something about how it's going in Japan. (Otherwise the only things I've come across was about Megan Fox at the premier and what she wore... ) I feel for them having had to wait so long.

Too bad that the film does not reach the symbolic $ 500 million.

A lot of blockbuster movies don't pass 500M, even the Lego Movie didn't even go over 500M.

TMNT doing 483M world wide and is in the top 20 is really good. It was predicted to do a lot less than that. If the movie come out in every country at the same time it probably would have done more.

I expect when the 2nd movie comes out next year I bet it will make over 500M.

The fact that it out-grossed the universally loved Lego Movie alone is pretty incredible. It's done phenomenal for a film with that much negative buzz, horrible reviews, scary-looking characters aimed at kids and Megan Fox as the lead. Attempting to degenerate it's nearly half-a-billion gross is just blind haterism

Worth noting that the Lego Movie cost a lot less to make (a $60m production budget vs. TMNT's $125-150m), so it was still more profitable.

Batman Begins and Captain America did less than 400 and their sequels did more than 800.

Not the same situation, really. Both of those movies proved to be increasingly popular/well-liked by critics and audiences, and the Marvel movies are also building a wider universe (And Cap 2 was specifically "important" for the overall line).

Not that I'm expecting BayTurtles 2 to do badly or anything. The Transformers movies have proven these Bay spectacles are critic- and fan-proof. They've got a mixed-at-best reaction from audiences, but they can't seem to stop themselves from buying tickets.

Then again, the domestic box office was way down for Transformers 4 compared to the previous movies... though the foreign BO made up for that. I'm sure not making any predictions next time.

All the Marvel movies after the Avengers experienced a significant jump due to it being post-Avengers movies. Avengers was huge and everyone wants to see what happens next with these characters. (Not to mention that The Winter Soldier was a vastly different movie to The First Avenger.)

The Nolan Batman movies are a bit different. A lot of the hype of The Dark Knight was based on people wanting to see what appeared to be the swan song of a gifted actor. While it's likely it would have made more money than Batman Begins due to the positive reception of that movie it was Ledger's joker that really brought in the public.

Comparing TMNT 2014 to these two movies specifically really highlights what's wrong with this movie. Captain America had something of a handicap appealing (naturally) more to US audience and rightly or wrongly being seen is a cog in a lead-up to another movie. Batman Begins had the handicap of coming after Joel Sculmacher's Batman & Robin and everyone writing off the Batman movie franchise The fact that both were well received made people eager to see the followups.

TMNT doesn't really have those handicaps, at least not to same degree and of the people that did turn out for it a not insignificant portion of them came out of the movie declaring it the worst thing ever; that doesn't really bode well for the sequel, does it? Realistically most of those people could be tempted back by promises of change and nostalgia favorites Bebop and Rocksteady but what about the many fans that never gave the movie a shot? Or people who wouldn't normally go to a TMNT movie? How do they get them to buy a ticket.

TMNT has no equivalent to the Avengers and as much as I loathed the movie I don't wish any of the cast to die so I'm not predicting a significant increase.

This thread is about it's box-office, not our opinion of the film and certainly not your one-note opinion which you've harped on about for over half a year now (pretty embarrassing). Try add something that furthers the conversation beyond just "".
