Mike stared sullenly at his sugar skull. He'd managed to smooth "Goober" out of its forehead, but now there was a dent where the torch had melted the sugar away.
M: aw man...

Leo waited in tense silence for the sounds that would signal the need for a new couch.

Raphael watched in shock as the demon who just dropped an emotional bombshell into his lap slowly disappeared into the wall.
R: WHAT?! DON"T JUST FVCKIN' LEAVE YOU GODDAMN, ****-FACED, BITCH!! YOU CAN'T JUST SAY THAT **** AND LEAVE!!!
Raph grabbed the first thing he could get his hands on and smashed it against the wall that had swallowed her. The coffee table put a gaping wound in the dry wall, but there was no sign of the demon.

R: (INTERNAL staring, but not really seeing anything) ... Kali was crying?.... she wanted to be here with me?...
R: THEN WHY THE FVCK DID SHE LEAVE??!?!

Raph's shouts boomed through the lair. A few doors down into the hallway, kya went pale as a sheet, pushing Vespera aside she dropped to the floor. The sound of the crash ringing in her ears, her breath came in ragged gasps. Some one was in a rage, furniture was broken and it was only a matter of time before he found her. Tangled thoughts of Beto founding out about the visitation raced through her head. She HAD TO HIDE. Pressing herself the the ground, Kya scuttled sideways under the bed. Almost completely hidden, she realized Vespera was still out there. IN a desparate lunge, she reached out and grabbed Vespera's arm by the wrist.

Kya(a frantic hiss from under the bed, tugging at vespera) COME ON! HIDE! POR FAVOR! ESCONDETE AHORA! TE ENCONTRARA!!!!!

((trans: please! hide yourself NOW! HE"ll find You!!)))

*Vespera started at the crashes and the shouting, but what completely shocked her was Kya's terror filled reaction. She was hiding under the bed and hissing at her to hide, and something about "him" she was speaking too fast for Vespera's negligible Spanish to compensate.* Kya, its Ok... stay here, I'll be right back.

*She managed to disengage the hand from her wrist, and headed out the door. It was pretty easy to tell where the disturbance was coming from, Raphael had shouted something else from the living room. Vespera stalked into the room, and right up to him, in his face, completely disregarding the look in his eyes or the palapable rage and confusion emenating from him* Will you shut the fvck up before you give her a heart attack?!

*Donatello jumped at the sound of the crash and the shouting. The first thought that ran through his head was Where's Kya? He knew this would probably trigger another episode. He got up and headed towards her room at a dead run.*

Leo was in the living room just in time to watch Vespera standing nose to nose with Raphael. He was at her side, pulling her away from his brother before Raphael had recovered enough to retaliate.

Confused as to why Vespera was yelling at him, and startled, more than a bit hurt by Leo's protective reaction, Raphael fell completely silent. It lasted for all of three heart beats.

R: (to Vespera) Wha thu fvc-- (suddenly glaring at Leo) WHAT IS WITH YOU?! D'ja'think I's gonna HURT her?! JESUS FVCKIN" CHRIST LEO!!! IS THAT WHAT YOU THINKA ME?!

Choking on his rage, Raphael spun on his heel, grabbed his coat, and stormed into the garage. The door slammed, the garaged door rose, and the motor on Raphael's bike roared to life. He spun out the tires and tore off, engine howling into the night.

*Vespera stumbled, not expecting someone to be grabbing her arm to pull her aside like that. She looked up, and was confused to see it was Leo getting in between her and Raph, back to her, protective written all over his stance. She felt a flash of annoyance at the interference, and moved to step past him again when Raph shouted at Leo, turned and stormed out. Silence reigned in the living room. Finally* I appreciate the gesture Leo, but it wasn't necessary. Is he going to be alright?

*Donatello opened the door to Kya's room. Empty. He left and headed down the hall to the laundry room. She wasn't behind the drier. He headed for the lab, not there either. He wanted to shout for her, but she wouldn't answer. Where is she?*

Leo stared stupidly after his brother. That had been a new expression from Raphael. Leo'd dealt with Raph's rage and confusion before, but tonight his brother looked almost haunted by something.

L(only having caught 2 words out of 5): you're welcome. I guess he'll be okay....

kya pulled herself into the blackest shadows against the wall under the bed. Vespera had left. She's gone out there and there'd been more shouting. Kya lay in the dark and wondered if that pretty face would sport bruises the nest time she saw it.
Kya(internal) ... you shouldn't've put yourself forward Vesita..... it only makes him angrier.... maria concebida sin pecado, rogad....

Can you guys take care of it? *She didn't really wait for an answer but turned and headed back for Kali's room. Donatello braced her in the hallway*

D: Kya? Do you know where she is? *His tone was urgent*

V: Yeah... come on. *She led the way to Kali's room and opened the door again.* Kya? Kya, its over. *She moved over towards the bed* Don's here too.

*Don looked around the room. It was empty. He watched Vespera sit down crosslegged on the floor and tilt her head so she could see under the bed*

kya saw them out there in the light. Vespera didn't look hurt. Her face was still that same pale oval. There were donnie's feet. kya slowly relaxed. but she didn't come out. She knew not to come out of hiding until they were all done. She mumbled her prayers into the floor as she stared out from the shadows.

Mike looked up.
M: so Leo, what're the damages? (he returned his attentions to reconstructive surgery on his skull.) Better have been the coffee table and not the Stereo Stand...

L: (distracted) it was the coffee table.

M: you okay, dude?

L: (shaking it off) yeah. Mike? can you cook dinner?... i think she said something about fish and veggies?

M: (snorting) i should HOPE i can cook... damn, bro... just cause she'd got "GOURMAND" tattooed to her forehead don't mean i can't fry a fish... sheesh... just for that, you're my little Kitchen Bitch for the night.

chuckling, mike pulled the swordfish out of the fridge and began to do his best.

He made his way there, ignoring the remains of his coffee table sticking out of a hole in the wall* Good afternoon my sons. What was the disturbance a few moments ago?

*Vespera gave Don a puzzled look when Kya didn't respond.*

*Don settled to the floor beside Vespera* I've seen it before... could you grab some blankets from the hall closet? She's usually freezing by the time she's ready to talk.

*Vespera nodded and got to her feet, leaving the room to rummage through the linen closet.*

M: broiler pan for YOU Mr. Fish!-- Huh? oh. Hello, sensei.--- LEO! I wanna steam the vegetables, not boil'em dump out all but an inch of the water in that wok.... Disturbance?... uh, yeah... Kali's Aunt? I think it was her aunt came floating out of the wall and accused Raph of being an as---AWFUL person. to kali specifically. Leo sent 'em to the living room so they wouldn't destroy the kitchen and they broke the ... coffee table, Leo?

L; yeah. the coffee table. Here's your wok.

M; heh. heh. WOK'n RoLL, baby!

L; (sighing deeply) whatever she said, upset Raphael pretty bad. he's long gone sensei I heard the bike pull out.

kya finished the rosary and was satified that no one but donatello was in the room. She pressed herself flat again to avoid hooking herself on the underside of the sagging box spring, and peeked herself out from under the bed.

kya(looking a bit rumpled and still pale) donnie?

In the mean time, we seem to be missing a few faces. I thought I heard Vespera earlier? And doesn't Kya usually do the honors in the kitchen?

*Don smiled down at her.* Hey. Feel better? *He offered a hand to help pull her from under the bed.*

*Vespera frowned at the linen closet. No extra blankets. She started trying bedroom doors, finally coming across one that wasn't locked. It was unoccupied, and there was a a series of pictures and candles on the end table, but more importantly she saw the stack of blankets on the bed. She took a couple, and started back for the other room*

Mike was busy humming at the rice cooker. It sounded like "Santa Lucia" but he kept throwing in the phrase "que sera sera"... so there was no telling what he thought he was singing.

Leo pulled out a chair at the table for his sensesi before he sat across from him.
L: I know that Ves and Kya were both in the back, "getting ready." I saw Vespera trying to get raph to knock it off. But then she said something about Kya, before she went back down the hall.... and since don isn't here either... I"d be willing to bet that Kya heard Raph and flipped out.... that's why we've got mikey on chef duty.

M:YO! i fry dat fishie RIIIGHT! I GAUR-RANT-TEE!

L: ....right.

kya nodded and took his hand, sliding herself from beneath the bed.
kya: jus' cold.
She was shaking.

Leo looked at Mike who shrugged. Realizing he would get no help from his brother, he did his best to explain.

L: apparently its traditional for everyone to decorate a Sugar version of their own skull. .... And then eat it at some point tomorrow. Don probably won't let you eat yours, but i don't think kya wanted to leave anyone out. She even made one for kali. Kya said it was symbolic of a trivialization of Death..... i'm not too clear on it all. But she said the holiday was about "whistling in the dark" ... not fearing death, but celebrating life....

Leo smiled.... It almost sounded like he'd understood her holiday.

kya sat up when some one knocked and relaxed a bit when she saw who it was. She was almost back under the bed when the blankets came sailing in. by the time she'd registered the projectiles as "blankets" she was well out of Don's lap.

L: apparently its traditional for everyone to decorate a Sugar version of their own skull. .... And then eat it at some point tomorrow. Don probably won't let you eat yours, but i don't think kya wanted to leave anyone out. She even made one for kali. Kya said it was symbolic of a trivialization of Death..... i'm not too clear on it all. But she said the holiday was about "whistling in the dark" ... not fearing death, but celebrating life.... Leo smiled.... It almost sounded like he'd understood her holiday. kya sat up when some one knocked and relaxed a bit when she saw who it was. Don felt a flash of annoyance at Vespera, and quickly quelled it. Next time he decided if there was someone else there he'd send them looking for something harder to find than blankets.
