Man, I dont kno whow you do it...but you always seem to have all the right answers! heh, coolness. Indeed, besides T2 and The Matrix, the only other movies that came out in the 90's were the original TMNT...but I consider than mor elate 80's(sinc eit was filmed in 1989)

Yeah. Well that's just how I feel. I was born in 85, so I don't have many memories from that decade, It must be the fact that mos movies I saw as a kid were made in the 80's. But if you compare any movie made in the 90's to a same genre movie done in 80's, There is a big difrence. I don't know what excatly, but it is there.

So no good movies were made in the 90s?

And I hardly consider The Goonies and The Never Ending Story the height of cinematic greatness from the 80s.

There are few good ones made in the 90's like T2 and The Matrix(as I mentioned before) and who said Goonies or NES(LOL) were greatest movies?

Great ones were: Terminator, Die hard, Beverly hill's cop, Alien, Aliens, Ghost Busters, The list goes on. They just can't make as good movies anymore(Or atleast they didn't in the 90's).

I would say quite a few people consider Goonies, and Never Ending Story some of the greatest film sof the 80's...add in there Aliens, Jedi, Empire Strikes Back, Terminator, ghostbusters, Willow, Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Back to the future 1&2, Blade Runner, Tron, ET, Star Trek 2 and 4, etc.
The list is endless.

hey I thought Back to the Future was the best movie they ever did in the '80s, and the sequals were both great in the early '90s!

Yeah, Back to the future 2 is one of my fave films of the 80's. Because it came out at the very end of the decade(Nov 1989) it was able to really reflect back on the 80's(like the 80's cafe scene) BTTF 3, like most sequels that came out in the early 90's(TMNT 2, Bill and Teds Bogus Journey, Never Ending Story 2, etc) was beyond unwatchable.

I thought BTTF3 was done perfectly well, and the train scene had to be the best scene ever!

Oh god....now beaker is considering tmnt an 80's movie, sheesh. Yea karpo, you were right, there is a big difference in movies from 90's and 80's, I found that the plots were executed in a way incomparably better in the 90's. The 80's movies were mostly dull to watch with fuzzy and dark screens, most companies didn't pay much money to make the quality better, so it is like watching a 20's movie....

Whatever, I just get pissed off when people try to bash a decade, geez, all it is, is 10 years...it isn't like once they got to jan 1st of a different decade they decide to do things in a whole different fashion. I see where you are coming from Matt....

That actually makes perfect sense; Lenin took control of Russia during the first world war, thus the beginning of communism in Europe. The whole "red scare" took place during the time afterwards. In the late 30s Hitler rose to power in Germany, and he had constant quarrels and hatred towards the Russian commnunists and especially Joseph Stalin. While I don't remember every nitty-gritty detail of the relationship between Germany and Russia during that time, but we all the outcome of the Nazi defeat. Then there was the Cold War between the US and Russia for almost 40 years, which technically started just before or right at the end of WWII. The constant power struggle caused panic (take the Cuban Missle Crisis for example) and chaos in the world at times. Of course we can't forget how Europe was divided afterwards (West being the Capitalist side, East being Communist). Things only worsened in the 1960s when Krushchev erected the Berlin Wall as a symbol of his Communist power, only to have the wall fall less than 30 years later during the rule of Gorbachev, and that eventually led to the fall of the Soviet Union (was that a second fall of Rome?).

Speaking of the Nazis and Star Wars, have you noticed that not only does George Lucas' story parallel to the rise of Hitler's power in Europe during the 30's and 40s, but the uniforms of the Imperial officers in episodes 4, 5, and 6 look vaguely similar to Nazi uniforms? Coincidence? I think not! In fact, my mom told me how she thought that his inspiration for the science fiction epic stemmed from what she told me was a "Nazi scare" in the late 60s and early 70s. It makes so much sense to me.

What about Amadeus, Stand by Me, Rain Man, Das Boot, The Last Emperor, Platoon, Blue Velvet, Glory etc.? Movies like that are what I consider to be the 80s greatest. But I guess for a kid Goonies and such would have been the coolest movies ever, even though I thought Goonies was stupid when I was a kid.

Actually I read somewhere that George Lucas based the Empire in the Star Wars films on the Third Reich. Even Darth Vader's helmet resembles the German steel helmets used in WWI.
