Yes indeed! The sense of smell helps me fulfill my nostalgia even more. It really takes me back to my childhood!

Here is my pic of my homemade ooze. I have used the "Kenner/Mattel/Playmates" recipe. As you can see, it is the same ooze from the original vintage line.

The recipe:
-Two small cups filled halfway with water.

-Add borax and food coloring in one cup and and stir until dissolved.

Instead of using guar gum, I use xanthan gum. It is more friendly when it comes to covering the turtles or the bad guys in slime. It can be removed from rugs, clothing, and your figures with ease. When it drys, you can add more water and borax. Then, shake the contents to restore your ooze back to normal. Using glycerine and polyvinyl alcohol can mar your materials and everything mentioned here if not measured carefully. So, I do not use them!I want to get at least 100 more years of playware out of my awesome figures and playsets! Hope this helps!

The only thing stopping me from turning that recipe into a reality is having no canister to put it in hahaha. If I were playing with toys or something, it would totally work but I don't see that happening any time soon. Boy, I wish I woulda had that recipe as a kid, though. I think the ooze was no longer being sold by the time I was around.

I did not know the recipe either back then. I remember dropping the old ooze on the carpet. I picked it up real fast to avoid staining the carpet but my ooze suffered greatly. I had hair all in it.

Are the guar gum and the borax easy to find? I've never heard of either..are they expensive? I know i could just google this but what can I say I guess I'm kinda lazy lol

The xanthan gum is 2 dollars and the borax is 5 dollars. Buy it at Walmart.

Sorry for the Bump but I have some 'Ooze' containers which have been sitting around for a good 5-7 years, yes you read right 5-7 years, some have been opened and others still sealed with their plastic on it. (Although, maybe i should open 'em up to look inside, just in case?)

they're still Oozy, sure one was a wee bit liquidy but after playing with it (squishing it in the canister) it 'fixed' itself, same goes for my others whose edges felt a wee bit dry. just squished it. sometimes i shook canister to fix it if I didn't want to touch it right then or open a still sealed one...
wow it's been long since I really hung around here...

When I was little I had 4 of the glow in the dark baby turtles and a brown baby splinter, but I had never seen the other turtle before.

How many figures did they make for the Ooze?

Also, I hated the ooze, it smelled nasty and was just unpleasant.

There were 2 toys I had growing up that I lost and always regretted it. My plush suction cup Raph doll and my glow in the dark turtles (4). So a while ago I went on eBay and bought them again. The Raph plush is the bigger one though, I still have the other 3 suction cup turtles and I have a Don of the bigger size still too.

I did manage to get 2 glow in the dark baby turtles on eBay, but one of them is TINY. As in they made 2 different sizes. Did anyone know that? I'll get some pics later. (Gotta go back to my parents' house to get them.)

I have a couple of those pics I said I'd get of the different size glow in the dark baby turtles. I didn't have a quarter with me to show a comparison size, but I did have a mini Red Blade Liger in the drawer.

Haha, they aren't for sale. I was just showing how they made two different sizes. Not sure why, I've seen the bigger one a lot, those were what I had when I was a kid. The smaller one I found on ebay several months ago for $4.99 by itself. Thinking it was the same size, it was quite a shock when I got it and saw how small it was. The bigger one I got in a random accessory lot for like $30 about a year ago.

Wow I have never seen those, is the bigger one the normal sized turtle or the smaller?

I wish some one in the fandom could make casts of these guys, it would be great to get multiples.

I have quite a few of my own, 2 splinters, 2 "standing" turtles and I think 6 glow, 2 of mine have marker on them I got off ebay.

I love these guys more than the figures, and that ooze smell was heaven.
