Yep and they didnt lie wen they sed theyre sticking to the Mirage story line.

you know some of the archie characters could appear in the toon since the majority of them were created by the mirage team. look at the small print on the bottom of the first page and you will see things like "ray fillet created by dan berger" and so forth. also those characters creators were mentioned on the back of the old figures too. so though it's not likely i wouldnt rule out seeing anyone yet. but in a much cooler way than we have seen them befrore i.e. the cool new tmnt.
