Been a while since this thread's been touched but I thought I'd share a link to a site with some cover shots of the TMNT Netherlandish(if that's a word) comics/magazines:
http://helliwood4.skynetblogs.be/cat...ro+Turtles+(NL)

That rip off of Lawson's Tales #6 is hilarious!

Actually it's not Netherlandish, it's Dutch
If anyones interested to see all the covers, I have all the Dutch TMNT comics, I don't mind scanning them in.

Yeah, but "Netherlandish" is a funnier word! I guess I'm still living in the George W. Bush administration. lol Either that, or I wasn't 100% they were Dutch, so I just assumed they were from the Netherlands or thereabouts regions.

And yeah, Buffy, I'd REALLY love to see those comics, especially some of the original art and stories that weren't published over here in the U.S. Could you PM me once you get them scanned?

Shredder

We had some of those covers in Sweden too, for comic books featuring both Archie comics and Hero Turtles comics. So Shredder is "Hakker" in Dutch?

So I take it the Dutch version of Shredder built his criminal empire through cyber-crime?

Netherlandish is indeed a funnier word
You are correct, these comics where published in the Netherlands (and in Belgium). Dutch is spoken in both these countries.

My comics are at my parents house and I'll be going there this Tuesday. I'll get them then and start scanning Wednesday evening.

The Dutch comics are like these too. Did the Swedish comics sometimes have short stories of Usagi Yojimbo in them too?

Hakker is indeed Shredder in Dutch

Hakker, not hacker.
Hakker means "chopper" or "cutter" in Dutch.

Yes. In 1994, Sweden also begun with short stories of Usagi Yojimbo too. And Shredder was "Strimlaren" in Swedish in the Archie comics, until it was replaced with Shredder, and the video dubbs. But I never use the word Strimlaren, and it's not in my mind when thinking of TMNT.

Here are the first 17 issues. There are 62 issues in total if I'm not mistaken.
In the beginning all issues of the Dutch comic followed the stories of TMNT Archie. After a while, stories/pages where left out which was really annoying.
Under each image are the Archie stories that where reprinted in that particular issue.

Issue 01: reprints TMNT adventures mini-series #1

Issue 02: reprints TMNT adventures mini-series #2

Issue 03: reprints TMNT adventures mini-series #3

Issue 04: reprints TMNT adventures #1 + #2

Issue 05: reprints TMNT adventures #3

Issue 06: reprints TMNT adventures #4

Issue 07: reprints TMNT adventures #5

Issue 08: reprints TMNT adventures #6

Issue 09: reprints TMNT adventures #7

Issue 10: reprints TMNT adventures #8

Wow I love the covers to #10 & #18!
I like how they took other art and worked around it and made it sort of their own thing.
Especially number 10, as it's their take on mirage's Tales of TMNT volume 1 #6

Thanks, Buffy! Issue 17 looks especially awesome. Did Chris Allan do the art or is that an emulated style?

Same question with #3. Is that Mitchroney's own work?

I'm afraid that there is no description in the comics themselves that say who the coverwork did. So sorry, I can't answer your questions.

I'll try to scan some more as soon as possible.

The fact that the UK comics alternated between the Archie storylines and their own meant it was too confusing to read as a kid.

My six-year-old self never could understand why Raphael kept changing from green to black.

Some of the UK storylines weren't so bad. If I remember rightly, most of them were drawn in the same art style as the PG Tips cards you could get at the time.

I always remember one in particular; Mikey getting teleported to a planet made entirely from pizza, where he is captured by the natives, who are made of pizza, and put into a prison, again, made from pizza. They even put him on trial, heh. He wakes up and it's all a dream, but it was pretty darn cool nonetheless.

Don't suppose anybody knows what issue that was? Would love to get my hands on it!
