Today's episode wasn't so bad. It wasn't that good either, though. I've seen better episodes in the old cartoon. Hopefully, Notes From the Underground will make up for it.

I was thinking the same thing about the grappling hook, Tetsu.

The episode wasn't that bad. Face it, when you're watching a show about four humanoid post-mutation turtles and their giant talking ninja master rat, arguing the logistics of super-heroes isn't gonna get you anywhere. You've already suspended disbelief enough.

I mean look at DC Comics for example. Technically, shouldn't the very existence of guys like Superman make guys like Batman obsolete? Probably, but it doesn't. I think the same can be said in this case, provided the story itself is well-written. (Let's not even get into Marvel, where every single character apparently lives within the same three block radius from each other in NYC...)

This one wasn't that great, but it wasn't that bad either. The one thing that does bother me about the show that I've finally noticed is the fact that NYC seems to "shut down" after dark. As a lifelong Jerseyan whose been to NYC many (TOO many... ugh) times, I gotta say that the real New York is crowded as hell after dark. The guys definitely wouldn't be able to walk for a mile (hell, even a block) without seeing a single person. More like "50 people every square foot". In fact... the cartoon's version of NYC actually looks a LOT like my town, Jamesburg NJ, after dark. Funny, that just struck me now. Heh.

I can believe that super-heroes exist in New York. That's at least semi-possible in real life. But I can NOT believe that New York City's streets suddenly become barren after dark. Suspension of disbelief only goes so far.

Well after seeing the "Garbageman" previews and thinking it was gonna be bad I was thrilled when the actual eps was played and it was pretty cool. Now I thought that maybe the same thing might have happened in this episode after viewing last week's dismal preview, I thought maybe its either a dream sequence, or they'd write it in a "believable way". But after viewin ghtis eisode, only one word come tho mind and that is:

BOOTY! aka STANK! aka GARBAGE!! = SUX!!!

Although in defense of this episode, I did like how the turtles are pretty objective in that they sit back in the shadows and are adamant about preserving that virtue, more than any other incarnation it seems. I also liked how a couple weeks ago they did hint on Mikey's resolve for justice, with Leo saying something about how Mikey's always crying about doing things for the greater good.. I wonder if this sentiment is a prelude to the conviction of the turtles as crime fighters ala the old cartoon, and give them a reason to stalk the streets, right wrongs, and be as corny as posssible. I prefer it when they'd help if they are around, but for the most part the trouble finds them. And I do like the grappling hook reference (if we aren't reading into it too much,

) and I also actually thought the evil Dr. Iforgethisnamegous' character design was pretty awesome looking. :Sigh: Anyways next weeks' episode looks like its gonna be dope, Can't wait! They'll get it together.....

P.S. Does anyone feel that the mutants (save the turtles

) looked a lot like the creatures in the Technodrome stage of the original NES game. I think that underground setting does as well.

P.S.S- I wanna see the turtles use other weapons like Mikey using the katana's and Donny getting bad with the sais!! They ARE ninja's after all. While they may use their respective weapons the most effieciently, they have GOTTA be bad (as in good) with other ninja weapons. I always thought they should exploit that in the various canons more. Ah a dreamers' dream....

Um ... this is my favorite episode outside of the main storyline. .. I really liked it.

I also agree with Leo 656, and I 'm sorry I didn't address it earlier, because I LIVE in Manhattan

. Yes there is usually at LEAST 2 people on every block in Mahnattan at all hours, unless the turtles are stalking streets down by the edge of times square or by the ports/warehouse districts, where it CAN be that dead. Ah well! This universe of the TMNT illustrates their ninja nature the best imo, since the one Mirage issue YEARS ago, when they had to kill a quartet of ninja assassins before they had killed this Japanese exec., but found out later it was a quintet. That was some great stuff. I enjoy the turtles being all overt and everything, but they are ninjas and ninjas are classically known for secrecy, espionage, extortion, and assassination. If the turtles were to be so overt, they should be renamed the Teenage Mutant Kung-Fu Turtles, and participate in in constant hand to hand combat with a clear conscience..but as Leo said before, you already get THIS far with the TMNT, you ought to take everything silly with a grain of salt. So its all good! Hehehe!!!!

I didn't think it was all that bad of an episode, even though it was the lesser of the 12 episodes that have been showed so far. But it still worked, and Mikey and the kids learned a good lesson in the end. That you don't need to be a super hero to make a difference. Plus it's always nice to see April pop up again. I worry that we won't see much more of her until the 3 parter next month.

I don't mind the inclusion of Super Heroes, yes it could have been handled a bit better. Like having it be a comic that Mikey was drawing, since he is the artistic one of the group. Next week should make up for this week's episode. I did love the wink at the old cartoon with the grappling hook, even if that was a terrible thing that happened in the old series. Atleast we know that it won't happen this time around.

But of course, the real star of the Episode was Splinter. Delivering a corrective thwap with his cane to Mikey for not paying attention. Poor Mikey, I have a feeling that his hard head/shell has broken more then a couple of Splinter's canes in the past.

Like Leo and a couple others have already said, it's just ridiulous to accept 5 ft. mutant turtles that practice ninjutsu, but a black man can't fly.

Well, I did enjoy the ep. Sure, there were lots of parts that had me rolling my eyes, but I think it was a really fun episode. Not everything has to be serious and purposeful, sometimes you just have to kick off your shoes and have fun!

Before the episode even started, I said to my brother, "They're gonna do a scene where he tries on a bunch of stupid costumes. Watch." Guess what, they did.

I liked that they finally pointed out Mikey's artistic talent, I really liked his drawings. I recently got busted at work for drawing on the job, but I didn't get hit with a stick, they just gave me a different assignment. And I also liked the lesson about being yourself and all that, another lesson I've recently had bashed over my head. (By Raphael no less, long story.)

Overall, while not mind blowing or plot driving, I think this ep served it's own purpose. A bit of a cushion between two intense storylines, something I think is really important. Like when they add humorous moments within the episodes to release tension, sometimes they need to do that on a larger scale.

Best ep so far (minus all the eps that focused on Raph) simply because it was so wierd. Yeah it was out there, but with all the serious story lines going on we needed a light hearted ep. SS was pretty cool, it was nice to see that even a guy who basicly ripped off superman needs help from the turtles. I was expecting more from the costume, I thought I;d be more like the Dark Turtle, but it was still OK.
I find it hard to believe that April had a big Turtle shell in her shop though. But I was really hoping mike would have browed the Shell Cycle and trashed it, so the ep could have ended with raph getting ready to kill him.
All in all I how SS and the other guy come back, I think they could be a lot fun to work with, maybe bring the Turtles into a really wierd world and just see them totally out of their element.

Actually, very few Ninja were assasains. Most were just mountain people who developed the skill to survive. Read this for details:

Also, Kung-Fu is Chinese not Japanese. It was developed by a group of Buddhist Monks known as the Shao Lin. It was during a time of religious persecution that their temple was burnt down. Only a few survived. So, they invented Kung-Fu to rebel against their oppressors and avenge their fallen comrades. And, Kung-fu is more like Ninjutsu then you realize as both were practised in secrecy and used for rebellion. The Shao Lin even taught Kung-Fu to Peking Opera actors who taught it to anyone willing to stand up to the oppressors!

Anyway just to clear a few things up.
