It looks much more like Mirage TMNT to me.

Haven't picked this up yet but as far as I'm concerned it takes place in the Mirage canon.

One reason I like it being part of the Mirage universe (aside from the fact that its a Kevin Eastman story, thus feeling "more at home" there), is that it makes it seem like the Mirage universe is still, "alive."

We haven't had any new Mirage comic since Tales of the TMNT #70 back in 2010. Having this short work take place for Mirage is sort of comforting in a way, it makes it seem like the Mirage-verse isn't quite dead yet.

This comic is now canon to Next Mutation, and Next Mutation alone!

I half expected this to be released in color, but am happy to see they kept it black and white. While it definitely feels more Mirage, it's also pretty interesting to think of it as IDW since the turtles are all pretty young in their training and even their relationships with Raph.

Now all we need is a FULL issue of an Eastman penned and pencilled story! When are they going to officially announce the annual?? If it's coming out in the summer, they ought to announce it soon because summer is pretty much here!

I think it's safe to assume they're saving that announcement for Comic-Con.

That's a good point. My anxiousness was starting to make me afraid that Bobby was being noncommittal because it might not happen! A shame I can't make it to comic-con this year, but I'm sure you all will keep me posted! Hopefully we'll hear a lot of good turtle news this summer!

Got this in the mail today, a nice short for sure.

Like other have said, this feels WAY more Mirage than IDW to me.
