Maybe all the complaints didn't help... Or they are just waiting to see how the new show does...either way terribly disappointed.

It's pretty amusing to me the number of people who seem to think this is somehow indicative of Paramount buckling to all the backlash about the aliens thing. Please.

It could be being pushed back for a hundred different reasons, but absolutely none of them include "Because the Technodrome fans are mad about the aliens."

As we all know Deadline Hollywood is a legit website that has a direct link with news in Hollywood. The comments section beneath each story can be used by anyone, and is very often used by people who work in some capacity in the industry. Anyway, in the comments section for this story someone wrote this:

Quote:
The first half of the script is terrific, just adult enough for those of us who grew up with the original cartoon, but friendly enough for tweens. But when the Turtles and Casey get back to NYC and the final act begins, with a sort of a “Fringe” twist, it’s a total mess. I really hope they make a more grounded act 3, while keeping the tone of the first two acts.
There’s no reason to disbelieve this. What do they mean by “Fringe” twist? I’ve never watched it.

Cynicism aside, Deadline isn't just your run-of-the-mill movie blog website. People who work in the industry are constantly making posts there. I've read many things that people have left in the comments section before that turned out to be legit. If you don't believe, though, that's fair enough. You don't have to be so abrasive.

Except we're not the only ones complaining. I'm not saying this is the reason for the delay, but to think only us here at The Technodrome is pissed is very wrong.

Oh boy. An unfunny youtube video. That proves that EVERYONE was complaining and was swearing off the movie.

The raping childhood thing is so goddamn overdone.

If anyone's got a good suggestion, we can update the title.

Personally, if they're slowing things down to improve the movie quality, it will be worth the wait...

Change "Shut Down" to "Postponed" or "Suspended" maybe?

More script work? That's nothing but good. Shows they care about the project and want it to be worth watching.

Channing Tatum should totally play Raphael though.
You jst contradicted yourself
I am getting to wonder if TMNT will be in production Hell.... ugh......we will just have to wait and see

I like this news. I've never had a good feeling about the movie anyway since the whole alien thing exploded all over.

I'd rather wait and have a quality movie than for them to do a rush job and turn out a complete embarrassment.

It has been for the past five years. Who's to say it won't take five more?

A rush job? Turtles Part 5 has officially been in pre-production since about 2009. And look how well Turtles Part 4's 13 year pre-production went... come 2007, we got a stillborn, toothless fart with a bunch of monsters and nonsense. I would put absolutely no faith in "more time" resulting in a better product... it just gives the financiers more time to figure out how to better align the toy placement and merchandising angles. This movie is in no way, shape, or form the labor of love by someone wanting to bring their vision of their definitive Turtles movie to light... it's just a studio who has acquired the rights to TMNT hiring guns and figuring out the best ways and best angles to maximize revenue on their investment. There will be focus groups, multiple "writing teams," and all sorts of nonsense that goes into productions like these.

Sorry if I sound cynical, but it's true.

I am sure Nick wants the movie out as soon as possible, it would inevitable lead to a boom for the show and toys from casual fans or new little kids. Maybe some 20 year olds might check out the IDW comics too after seeing the movie.

It probably has more to do with wanting to wait and ride whatever kid wave results from the new cartoon. Sort of letting that "set" first without being premature, and then doing the movie... similar to how the first movie rode the Fred Wolf cartoon wave. Whether or not the movie tonally has anything to do with the new cartoon is irrelevant.

But I suspect the problems pushing back the movie are much simpler, and more down to brass taxes.

Or pick up some IDW Mirage trades. In either case it's a win, so whatever.

So it got pushed back to 2014; it's not world ending news. It's funny though it will be my girlfriend and I's 4 years into our relationship if it comes out that date.

TMNT movies always go through development hell, this shouldn't be a surprise.
