13 episode sets are the norm for a show that's still airing. A boxset would probably be the same price as the two 13 ep sets anyway.

I'm just saying it's a cartoon. The norm would be to just release a season. But it's not a normal show. Cartoons don't get treated the same way.
Like someone said, earlier, kids will want it. And they won't know or care what episodes or how many are on them. Look in the store and you'll find a hundred little BS cartoon DVDs, that are $10-15, with about an hour's content, because they sell, regardless.

The Series will most likely be released in Volumes with 4 to 5 episodes. Already heard from Paramount Europe that they are most likely to release the show this way because "it's a kids show". But maybe there will be season sets afterwards like they did with The Last Airbender but right now there are no plans...

Hopefully it's not a situation like Power Rangers where they release the second half of a season as a box-set and yet wait ages to release the rest of the first in individual volumes.

What does Europe have to do with Region 1 U.S. DVDs?

Because they often release identical or similar DVDs in Region 2.

demo dvd of tv shows (I have one from a shonen jump magazine with a episode of Hikaru no Go)

and some toy franchises would sell a toy and it would come with a bonus single episode disk (skechers did this with their hero show thing for their shoes)

According to Amazon, looks like it's full screen. Yuck! Still, I guess it's a little too early to get upset.

Does it not work out cheaper in the long run to buy the complete season 1 boxset?

I'm just happy it's coming on DVD. Why do we have to complain about this? Can't we just be grateful we're getting this show on DVD? So what if it is fullscreen? It's television, not movies. I don't care what format it will be in as long as I have the episodes I've been enjoying these couple of months. Still, there's bound to be a widescreen version. The Penguins of Madagascar DVD's are widescreen.

I'm looking forward to this. Like everyone said previously, we better not get ripped off on this. I'm really enjoying this new series a lot

I'm glad you're content, but videophiles like me are a little put off when a widescreen thing is released in fullsceen. Makes no sense now that the majority of folks have widescreen TVs.

I agree 100%. In this day and age, there's no excuse for it. If they went through the trouble to produce the episodes in wide screen, why not present them in their original format? I mean, that would be like going through life being forced to wear blinders, not being able to see what's left and right of you. To each their own. We still have until February 26th. Maybe this release will be the best thing since apple pie.

Still, I think I want to get it before the complete series comes out. I don't know. I just want it on DVD. Still, is there a reason that the Penguins' DVD's are widescreen?

It's titled, "Rise of the Turtles." It's named after the first ep. My guess is you'll get the two-parter and a couple eps thrown in for good measure. One disc.
BUT...weren't the 2 1/2 season >> releases titled and not TMNT:>> Volume 1 and 2?

The guys who passed the episode masters to the Penguins DVD makers actually knew what they were doing.

I'm thinking it's because of Dreamworks. Let's just wait and see what happens. I think it's just provisional anyway. It's got to be widescreen.

UPDATE: Well, it turns out, all the TMNT TV DVD's that have been released are fullscreen. I guess Penguins has Widescreen because it's part of Dreamworks. I'll still take the chance.

That's because they were CREATED in fullscreen (save Turtles Forever, which I also think was master in HD, but whatever).
