Just wanted to mention that bashing the old cartoon and then saying "I'm not bashing the old cartoon" is still considered bashing. BTW, you're stating your opinion, not "the facts."

Aww come on.. it wasn't that bad.. I rather dug the old Shredder!!

I don't know, I really do like both casts, I guess the new voices suit the characters better imo, but the old ones fit that series very well. (especially Raph and I couldn't Imagine Krang having anyother voice)

Peter Laird is the same way. He can't stand it when people say "not to be critical" when they actually are being critical.

As far as the character went I thought James Avery did a great job with him.

He was relatively versitile and did a pretty damn good job immitating Mike in "Cowabunga Shredhead". I also loved his whining, "But I don't wanna conquer Dimension X! I wanna conquer Eeeeaaaaaarth!". He could also occasionaly sound menacing, "Tonight I dine on Turtle soup."

He was good for the character at the time when he was portrayed as a bumbling oaf. But no, he wouldn't work for Shredder in the new show.

In referance to the voice box...... there was none, that was the actor ( Uncle Phil ) doing a great job with the charecter. Yes he was a big wussie, Krangs lap dog, he wasn't wussie in the comic but the Krang wasn't in the comic either.

Oh great. Another one of these Old vs. New style threads. How original. How about giving we the faithful of both cartoons an option huh?

To this statement I have to paste a copy of an extensive PM I sent to a guy who constantly bashes the old cartoon:

I'm curious...
Do you have an involvement with children at all? I mean you constantly put down the 80's cartoon without thinking about what age group they were geering it for. If you do have a son, daughter, neice or nephew or a combination of all of them, I'd think you would appreciate the 80's cartoon more because that is where you get the young ones interested in Ninja Turtles. Case in point: I introduced my neice to the old Transformers and she loves them. Now I'm not saying this is a good thing that she likes Armada but at least she had a starting point to loving Transformers. But I still refuse to show her even the sanitized Rhino Tape (Transformers: The Movie. I think I should have stated thast but it escaped my mind at the time I wrote this PM.) because she's not ready for that kind of intensity. The same can be said about Godzilla movies. As much as I hate the dubbed version of Godzilla's Revenge, my neice and nephews love it so I put up with it because I want them to like Goji films and be able to watch the more intense ones when they're old enough to. There are some Goji fil;ms I will not show my neice or nephews because they are much too scary like most of the Heisei Godzilla movies. I mean Mechagodzilla from Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1970's version) from the Showa era used to give me nightmares as a 5 year old kid. Then there were a few scary episodes from Battle of the Planets like when Princess Aka Jun in Gatchaman was swallowed up by alien pods sent to Earth by the bad guys and a huge scary robot hidden as a giant Indian statue at an amusement park during the day that scared me as a kid too. I can imagine that 2K3 Shredder would have scared me royally when I was 5. Basically what I'm trying to say is that you bash the 80's cartoon without thinking who they were made for. I find that 9 times out of 10 the person who does this has little or no contact with a child below the age of 9. Granted I share your enthusiasm about the new cartoon based on the comics. I love it alot especially episode 17. Very well adapted episode from the Leo One Shot. But I also enjoy the 80's cartoon alot because A.) Some of the episodes are hilarious because of it's campy goofball nature. B.) This is something I can share with my 5 year old nephew and 7 year old neice without scaring them ****less. You can't tell me the amount of violence in the 2K3 cartoon wouldn't scare kids at that age.

I wasn't bashing the old cartoon I was just saying that Shredder was a wuss in it that's all. Yeah the new Shredder may scare little kids but that's the whole point! He's the villian your supposed to be scared of him! Your talking about 5 year olds watching it. Well the show is rated TVY7! Personally I don't think little kids would be scared of the violence. When I was a little kid I was mad the cartoon didn't have enough violence! There ninjas damnit! They should be kicking ass not making jokes! It's not like I hate the old cartoon. I like it. I grew up watching it. I just like the new one better! This is the show I wish I had on when I was a Kid!

Yeah, that Brooklyn accent thing drives me batty at times. It makes Raph sound like a forty-something year old construction worker with a beer gut! As much as I love Rob Paulsen, his Raph wouldn't work very well for this show. If only there could be some happy medium that could make Raph sound both tough and like a teenager...

Excuse me. I live far up North from New York City in the state of New York itself and I have an accent with which I can turn on and off at will. I also acquired a bit of a Welsh accent from a friend I had ages ago who used to be our pastor's daughter at the church we used to attend. But anyways, I think it has been hinted numerous times that the turtles are not blood related brothers but brothers in an adopted sense. I mean it could be possible that they are different breeds of turtles too. I think the different accents also lend to a sense of uniqueness for each turtle that is indicative of their personalities. There ain't nothin' wrong with that bub.

Is it just me or does one of the turtles from the old cast sound like the guy who does the voice for Razor on the "Swat Kats"?

Are you referring to the old turtles cartoon because I noticed the guy that did 80's Donny was in Swat Kats. I mean the voice is not that hard to recognize eh?

Yeah, I am referring to the old cast. I was listening to some stuff I had downloaded the other day from the old show and I was like "WAIT a minute! Hold on! I must be going mad! I swore I heard Jake a second ago! Weird!"

I really like the new voice cast. And you can't expect all of them to be perfect at the voicing. Raph sounds too rough, Don sounds girlish at times, and as for Leo and Mikey, I'm still looking for faults.

As for the old voice cast, I was too young and barely remember it so I can't really say anything about it.

Well, I have to say that I am very happy with the new voices. The majority of the Turtles do sound they way "I want them" too...heh. The new people sound pretty similar to the originals... I only wish people like Cam Clarke or James Avery could of came back... I know that Cam is still an active voice over guy... The only person I have a problem with is the Shredder's "regular" voice. He does not seem to be Asian anymore... April is good, not really a fan of her not being a newscaster, though...
