I was thinking, another movie to look back to that had some edgy scenes would be the Star Wars movies. In TPM, we do see Qui Gon get stabbed in the chest and Obi Wan slices Darth Maul right in half. And in Revenge of the Sith, there is Yoda who cuts two storm troopers heads clean off. What with this movie having the foot soldiers with full masks on, I can see Leo doing something similar.
If that happens, it'll probably be off-screen most likely.

To see Leo slice someone in half like Obi Wan did to Darth Maul - that would be amazing. And as far as being 'stiff' and 'by the book' that's why he's my favorite! So much fun to corrupt!

I always assumed that Leo hit people with the dull side of his blade.
Unless the turtles in this film film kill people, and judging by Raph ramming into a truck and most likely killing everyone inside it, I wouldn't put it past these new movie turtles.

Slapping someone with the dull side of the sword isn't exactly easy. Maybe he should have been using a pair of Bokken instead of sharp sword or get a pair of iaito, but even those can seriously harm people in lethal ways like a proper sword.

I don't think Transformers kill people so it's highly likely the turtles won't either.

I would've taken it seriously if Hayden Christensen isn't such a dreadfully appalling actor. Everytime he cried or being angsty I laughed it's so bad, like a baby being denied his milk bottle. Terrible casting imo.

Same with Tobey Maguire but thank God they got Andrew Garfield now for Spidey. [/offtopic]

And yet, this movie is a PG movie, and they had this horrifying scene in it.

well i mean , thats just a product of time, most movies from most of our childhood, have ratings that would never fly today

Well, to be honest, this was done before the PG-13 rating existed, and I think they will let violence pass if it's nature causing the violence. And they will let nudity pass if it's for medical situations (like in The Abyss) artistic interpretations (like Titanic) or for Tribal cultures (like Sheena)

Steven Spielberg I think is the one that got the PG-13 rating going because of his movie Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Note: I was realizing, Michael Bay may have a lot of action in his movies, but they tend to not be very gory or bloody, huh? Compared to Steven Spielberg, who is like a freaking grand master at getting maximized violence and gore in PG-13 movies. Poltergeist was a movie he produces, had some pretty gory moments. Jurassic Park had some frightening scenes (remember the arm) And of course, Jaws.

Agree I think even back then Th PG ratting on that movie was kind of controversial

Pg-13 didn't exist until Gremlins came along. The first Gremlins movie is the reason pg-13 was born.

That and Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom (with a heart being ripped out in a 'PG' movie). The first PG-13 film was Red Dawn.

As for the topic, they won't have Leo or Raph stab anybody. The worse will be a punch to the face, a kick, and throwing people. That's it. It'd be unlikely to even see Mikey hitting someone in the face with his weapons.

The closest you'll get is the 1990 film, where Leo cut the Shredder's arm a little bit during a fight scene.

I was just telling what I thought I honestly heard. I don't remember what site I got my info from about the pg-13 rating, there was no mention about either of those movies regarding the origin of the pg-13 rating.

No, you were right. Gremlins and Temple of Doom helped make PG-13. Because Spielberg was with both of those (produced Gremlins and directed Temple of Doom) and was mad at the flack that they were getting for being too 'intense' for a PG rating. So he went to the MPAA and said "shouldn't there be a rating between PG and R?"

And then the first PG-13 film was pretty much Red Dawn.
