this movie obviously had multiple changes due to fan reactions, the second one i think will know what we want and has already established they arent aliens, shredder isnt white etc.

weve got their basic introductions and backstory. while the second one can dive deeper into them, we wont have to deal with first meetings and can get right to the turtles, leaving more time for the plot

really high hopes for the second one. i can definitely see casey being addedd, easily, making his backstory come from the events of the first movie. however i dont really see bebop and rocksteady, as the cannister of mutagen that fell with shredder was supposedly the only one. but i could see them going with a villain like bishop, which would be incredible to see in a movie, and have him and the government start hunting the turtles

There is no snowball's chance in hell that Bay would ever watch 2003, or know what it is.

To put a silver lining on this cloud, as much as I hate the movie, there's nothing the movie gets so terribly wrong that it eliminates any chance of a sequel learning from the mistakes of the first film and being decent. That's certainly not something that could have been said if they stuck with the Blue Door. Now, do I expect this to happen? God no, not in a million years. Still, it's worth mentioning. Never would have thought Scooby Doo 2 could be so wonderful after how awful the first movie was.

Why would they bring Nemec and Applebaum back?

If they had confidence in them they wouldn't have brought Dougherty in for rewrites on the first one.

Maybe they'll get a chance in the sequel to change their origin back to being alien warriors like they originally planned.

I'm very happy about the sequel news. I hope we get some more background stories. Plus, Bebop & Rocksteady and Casey Jones.

Well there is a chance that the sequel might be an improvement from the first one. Look at the transition between the first and second purge movies. They obviously took in alot of criticism from that the first film faced and improved it in the sequel. A 20% to an 58% on RT is an huge difference. Im just glad that this studio listens to backlash at least. I could be wrong though.

Maleficent made more money than X-Men: DoFP at the box office. Maybe that's why.

The only thing better than seeing the $65 million weekend total (Because, apparently, by Sunday morning, estimates are treated as fact.) was seen this moments later.

And there's really no point in analyzing the date and competition. They are all tentative, this far out.

Yes, it did. That film really appealed to both families and females.

I've stated my opinions on this movie I liked it but it was poorly written and executed. I was hoping for a sequel because if there wasn't going to be one made there would not have been another live movie in the next 30 years.

I honesly believe the 2nd will be a huge improvement, I wish they would go with another director. I would rather Bay take it over then liebithsmen(sp?).

if they do learn from their mistakes, it could be good. whether that'll happen or not, we'll have to wait n see...but this one was fun, if not all it coulda been, and im alright with another fun ride in a couple years.

Does anyone know why a movie needs to make twice its budget to break even? In the rest of the world to break even you only need to earn back the money you spent, not twice the amount you spent. It does not make logical sense anyone care to explain?
Domestically, theatres keep about 40% of the profits. Internationally, they generally keep about 55%. I could be slightly off on the numbers, but not too much.

They have to make about double their budget because the theatres need to make money too. Although people overdo it because Turtles will make a huge profit on toys, 3D glasses, and clothing. Add in the sale of each "drive" to each theatre and it's probably profitable for the company before doubling the budget.

Turtles sequel is announced because $125M on opening weekend (with a lot of markets not even opened yet) is huge numbers. It should make back it's budget by the end of next weekend. Anything after that will be profit.

I'd expect this movie to hit $350M-$450M, approximately. That's a profit of $50M-$100M, without including the money they'll make from merch.

Let's get Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor on this bitch. If it's going to be stupid and awful, can it at least be the awesome kind of stupid and awful?

Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, the sequel to the Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, is also opening on May 27, 2016. So, that might take away some of the family audiences from the TMNT sequel, but we'll see what happens.

I think they will change the date as it is out on the same day as X-Men. Don't forget this is under 2 year time so anything can change.

On June 17th it says Finding Dory and How to Train your Dragon 3 are out on the same day, I can see that changing.
