On the same note;

filmmakers who are actual fans of the franchise having money to make more turtle films. I don't trust anyone in Hollywood to actually care enough, so the only way to get a decent films, would be having fans make them. I know there are some really good stories out there to be filmed.

Ugh, no, no and no thank you!

I cringe whenever fans of what is essentially a family franchise are insistent on swearing things up and blood, gore etc- seemingly just "because", as if it to prove what "they" like is obviously so mature and edgy it isn't FOR KIDS!

The idea that the original Mirage comics were somehow incredibly violent, mature, realistic and 'gritty' (I hate that word in this context...) is one of the biggest falsehoods of the TMNT franchise. By the end of the first few issues, they're happily mixing it up with Dinosaur aliens for goodness sake.

But, I assume this is where all the requests for "blood and gore" originally stem from. That's not what TMNT is about. It has NEVER been about that.

And I don't want it to EVER be about that, just to give some fans some bizarre validation because what they're watching is 'cool' and 'adult'. As if they're embarrassed at what they like already.

I am quite happy with what we have - comics aimed at adults, shows and films aimed at family. It's not just this franchise; Transformer fans, even He-Man fans... all have some fans obsessed with adding a shoehorned "violence"/"adult" factor into their favourite shows simply so that they don't feel 'guilty' for enjoying something aimed ostensibly at children.

To the original question, the franchise is in a great place right now. I would like some more higher-end figures aimed more at collectors (in parallel to the kids lines, of course).

A reboot of the 2K3 series would be cool. Heck a box set of 2K3 it self would be so awesome.

I'd wish for a revival of the 1987 or 2003 cartoon.

Or video games based on seasons 4 - 7 of the 2003 cartoon (I only know about video games from seasons 1 - 3), or video games based on the red sky episodes from the 1987 cartoon.

Hmm, let's see. In order of likelihood, I wish....

1. For Nick to get its act together. Get back to its core, re-introduce coherent storytelling and focus on some character development.

2. For Nick to get its act together. Get back to its core, re-introduce coherent storytelling and focus on some character development and give Sean Astin something to do besides growl and scream.

3. For Nick to get its act together. Get back to its core, re-introduce coherent storytelling and focus on some character development, give Sean Astin something to do besides growl and scream, and drop the friggin' love triangle.

4. For Nick to get its act together. Get back to its core, re-introduce coherent storytelling and focus on some character development, give Sean Astin something to do besides growl and scream, drop the friggin' love triangle, and drop the alien / mutants plots, re-establishing the turtles as the only ones of their kind, doing extraordinary things in an ordinary world.

5. For the PD sequel to be GOOD.

6. For PD to realise their horrible mistake and recut the film, keeping the core in place, but plugging the plot holes, giving the villains a decent motivation and making the turtles smaller.

7. For a new TV series - live action with great, well-designed CGI turtles, aimed at an adult audience and screened in the evenings after the watershed. Great martial arts, violence, killing, emotional scars, angst, swearing, the whole shebang. And no aliens. Or mutants besides the turtles and Splinter. Or aliens. Or monsters. And no aliens. Did I mention 'no aliens'?

8. For full control of the property.

9. That the turtles were real.

None of that's too much to ask, is it?

I don't think anyone has ever said Mirage TMNT was realistic. I would say the Mirage run fits the extremely violent, mature, and gritty in it's storytelling. It's not gore for gore sakes, but a PG-13 comic book film does allow the heroes to enter more gray areas like actually killing someone. No one dies in the PD film compared to other comic book films. Those that want more Mirage influence in the mainstream turtles stories because it shows that the turtles are so much more than what is being presented to the general audience.

Actually, scratch that! Make TMNT public domain. That would sure mix things up!

Mirage actually wasn't that dark. The artstyle was gritty, but, like Turtletitan97 said in another thread, it isn't worse then a standard issue of daredevil or spiderman.

I'd have 4 simultaneous series going on at the same time:

1. A faithful adaption of the Mirage comics into cartoon form, and I mean exactly the same. All red bandana's, everything the same panel to panel, all the core Mirage stuff with the violence and themes.

2. IDW's comic series adapted into a cartoon. Similar to above have everything exactly the same but in cartoon form. People are missing out on IDW simply because its not animated.

3. Nick's cartoon can continue and improve.

4. The original toon would get a "Season 11" scripted by David Wise bringing back Shredder/Krang but making it more plot driven.

Well, personally I'd have to agree to disagree there. As much as I do prefer a huggable TMNT (and have zero guilt over any of it), I don't find anything inherently wrong with letting it grow in different directions. Not removing the family friendly shows, etc., those should always be there and as the majority of what is out there. But adding additional directions, like an HBO style series that, while existing simultaneously as other more friendly TMNT media, could be interesting ideas to test the waters on.

(Also they should have an enemy that looks a bit noticeably like Michael Bay. *evil grin*)

Exactly. There can be different parts of the franchise, like how Batman and Marvel have darker and lighter iterations at the same time. I even said while back that I support that. Not sure how he came to the conclusion that we're all bloodthirsty savages who abhor 'kiddy' entertainment.

I guess it depends on what you consider dark and gritty and your frame of reference. I don't necessarily think it's any darker than the Dark Knight Trilogy, which is considered dark and gritty, but I doubt we ever get anywhere close to something like that because it's TMNT.

I would love to see a sequel series of TMNT that is entire base on Mirage volume 4. It would cool to see the turtles growing into their adult selves and dealing with a new freedom to go topside among humans.

Or just an animated movie adaptation of Soul's Winter.

I'd want an animated adaptation of The River. I understand that the s3 opener was Nicks answer to the story arc, but I'd perfer the actual thing and with Bloodsucker being owned by a third party, I guess it would be harder to do.

Blu ray release for OT, 2k3 and Nick toons.

Karai and Irma action figures.

TMNT 2 movie sequel featuring Shia Labeouf as Casey (reuniting with Megan Fox ).

Timothy/Mutagen Man to never be mentioned again.

It weird how the show is able to get away with horrific imagery but they stay clear away from the deep and heavy stuff from the franchise. I would never want them do a Sons of the Silent Age unless it's exactly like the one from the comic book and not the miller light version from the 2k3 series.
