A good idea for an intermediate episode is to have a fun, Battletoads-style level at the end, and it delivered, through the reactions of the evil mutants to the variety of obstacles provided to of course the ever-popular slo-mo finish. In away, it was a tribute to '90s movies Michelangelo both through the voice actor, slang, and of course the Archie orgin. I liked how Mikey mentioned how "I'm smart!" after the announcer mentioned how he is known as the dumbest, though the "party dude" and of course "Cowabunga!" was definitely the biggest homage we'll likely see. The thug battle earlier on wasn't too bad even if just standard fare. Another solid example at the beginning what makes Mike different from the others (Leo training with April, Raph's figure collection, Don's special work). Not the most memorable episode, but a fun filler to enjoy.
Overall: 7.5/10 (OT: I like your sig lonewarrior20).

Not really filler since Mondo is bound to return and this is Hun's second appearance.

I was rewatching the episode on VCR and I saw the Shredder mutants in the window. I mean, what other mutant has 4 arms and a head? EDIT: I also saw squirrelenoids and what appeared to be Justin?

Pretty fun and different episode. So cool hearing Robbie Rist say cowabunga again.
I'm really glad that Karai was back in human form in the preview for next week. I hope they get rid of her snake form especially the terrible hands. |

Different, but refreshing, was a pretty fun episode and nice to see a Mikey/Casey pairing. Wasn't even aware who would be voicing Mondo, but sooo obvious and a big plus, like the character immediately even just for that fact alone.
I like that it kind of leaves you wondering if it was all only known villains or if there were any as yet unknown faces in the crowd. For a sec I thought maybe Fishface jumped ship from Shredder's bunch and was doing his own thing. Was it just me, or did Leo pull an April-ish reaction/facial expression? Been hanging out with her too much... lol Last edited by IndigoErth; 05-10-2015 at 09:56 AM. |

The episode was good but not the best, it was just a fun filler lighthearted episode.
The fight scene with Mikey and Casey vs Hun and the Purple Dragons was great. It was shame we didn't see enough of Leo, Raph and Donnie in this episode. Loved Mikey in this episode, he was awesome Love seeing Casey and Mikey hanging out. I like Mondo Gecko, glad they included a flashback. It was so sad to hear his parents kicked him out. Mondo Geko sort of reminded me of Tony Hawk. Shredder's Dog is out on the streets. Did anyone think that Raph was doing something dirty in his room (like some boys who have urges) but then we find out he was playing with his toys. Loved hearing the sound of the Queen song, We will, we will, Rock you. Pretty wired seeing all the bad guys all together in this evil hang out. I thought the skate deathmatch race was great, I bet the animation looked awesome. Can't wait for next weeks episode.

Damn, there's lots of reused models in the episode! The mutants, the fish, the frying pans, Hachiko, etc.

We get enough of Leo Raph and Donnie anyways, I'm glad to see a change of pace like this.

OH. And look at that - I guess the Pizza Face episode was not a dream.
Edit: Or was this one? It did start out with Mikey laying in bed. |

Great episode. I was definitely not expecting the last half of this episode. Mondo Gecko was great and I liked Hun even better in his second appearance.
But overall, there's not much to say. It was a funny, entertaining episode. I saw lots of mutants in the stands, such as Spiderbytez and Snakeweed (I think?) I wish the little Pizza mutant wasn't there, because that would mean the Pizza Face episode wasn't Michelangelo's dream (I'll still contend that it is because it makes the episode so much more acceptable). I would have liked to see something more threatening done with Fishface but I guess this was okay. Cowabunga! 8/10

The race reminded me of xgames on the original playstation. There were times when you would skate/bike/street luge/board through dark tunnels with boulders and flames flying. Loved hewring the movie mikes voice as mondo gecko. I not familiar with his character so this version was perfectly fine. I perfectly agree he shpuld join up with the mutanimals. They really only have slash and leatherhead in the fighter department.

That. Was. Awesome. 'Bout time that Fishface got some love. Sorta. LOL. Felt bad for Mondo, worse for Fishface. The whole skating thing. *claps* Kudos to Nick. Honestly, I was expecting Mr. X to be a new character or someone like Bishop (long shot, but eh.), but in the end, yay! More Fishface. Also, am I the only one that 'daww'ed at Raph playing with his figures? Or was surprised the beheaded video games guy. Heh.
And next week's episode. Yesss. Must see. |

That was really fun. I laughed a LOT. Robbie killed it! I'm not really a fan of Mondo's Nick design, but as far as his overall character/personality is concerned, he's awesome. It was really cool to see Casey hanging out with Mikey, I've always liked it when there's an "unlikely" pairing. Obviously they're good buddies, but we never get to see that, so that's neat. How about a Leo/April episode or a Raph/Splinter one? I was pleasantly surprised to see Hun return! While I did enjoy this episode & think that it was written wonderfully (if only for it's humor & characterization of Mondo + I loved Casey's choice slang in this one!) blah blah blah, I don't really dig the concept of it. An extreme sports face-off for mutants? Meh. It worked, it was funny, but not something I'd ask for. I understand skateboarding is how you connect Mondo & Mikey, but does the whole episode have to revolve around it? I feel like this sorta goofy event is counterproductive to the series tonally. Xever's a banger with a passion for cutting the sh*t out of people, why is he holding a skateboard/rollerblade challenge? He should be tryna, ya know, murder them or something. I know the villains are supposed to be sorta moronic & all that, but I don't like when things like this take a notch off of the evil belt, so to speak. I like my big toothed mutant baddies to be a bit more driven by their desire to harm.
