Thoughts on Old Toon April? - Page 3

Okay, this is what I wrote about her on my website, but bear in mind my website is just a "joke psychological study" thing, so pretty much every character gets trashed:

Having said that I don't necessarily believe everything I wrote there, I have to think April was still a pretty terrible character in the cartoon. She's all work work work, risking her own safety (and therefore wasting the Turtles time because she always needs to be saved) in the name of her career. From a "role model" viewpoint - she spends most of the time being kidnapped and rescued.

But it's okay, 'cause I have this "love to hate" position on her.

I notice in one TMNT arcade were it showed a profile of April that says she's 27. While the average age for her would be close to 23. The original one is older than the new one.

I think she's a brunette in the Mirage comics (except the 2nd printing cover of Issue #2), but a natural red-head in every other TMNT universe.

I really dont think her hair looks "naturally" red in the new show...it looks really purple.

Well, she is Irish descended after all - that whole "O'Neil" bit gives it away. So the show creators probably wanted her to be a natural red head.

hehe, an ity bit too hot for a kids game, huh.

She was always too bigger chested for a cartoon like TMNT, I mean, she shud have fallen over at least once in every episode because of those ...

But I think her character is great. I didn't mind Erma either, if she took off those specs and did something with her hair she'd luk better, but she was annoying in one or two episodes.

These are the kind of things I notice watching those old eps now.... little jokes the animators probably figured nobody would catch

I'll have to check for a sound effect next time I watch that ep....

Yeah, I also noticed that April is really tall, it says she is 5' 8", but she looks about 6 feet

She is about 6 feet tall I think, but then again, standing next to the 5 foot something turtles, anyone would seem tall. They really are kinda midgety if you think about it.

Yeah, and Splinter's even more so - she luks down at nearly everyone, in Splinter's case she should kneel down if she wanted to talk face to face

Actually Im pretty sure the cartooon inspired that cover. She never looked like that in actual stories[neither did the TMNT for that matter]

That's what I always liked about the TMNT, that they're short just like me!

Yeah, that one of the funny things about the TMNT and all TMNT characters, there is really no consistent image of them. Just things which can always be related to them...

I got into the habbit back in 1992 or 93' when I was little. I would like to thank my 2 year older cousin for getting me in the habbit. 2001 was when I revised my knowledge on TMNT. And today I'm a bigger fan than I was years ago. I have all 3 TMNT Movies, current Toon, and old school Toon on DVD.
