With nunchakus, it is much easier for a novice to swing them around and create enough general force to break their own arm by accident. I believe it takes 80 pounds of force per square inch to break a bone and a nunchaku can easily create twice as much force in the hands of a master.

Also, how many kids have access to a forge and the ability to make their own swords? Not many, right? How many kids can get rope and two pieces of wood? A lot more. Kids will imitate what they see and it is easiier to make a set of nunchakus than a pair of swords. Now kids never see Leo hitting himself with katanas, but Mikey would do tricks with the nunchakus that looked like he was hitting himself. Sound like a problem?
or Mikey does tricks that if you try to imitate you'd end up hurting yourself.

Ya! That's a good question I want to ask also.
I think katana and sai are more violent than chunks
*throws grappling hook at male enemy's crotch*

*grappling hook latches onto something in that general region* (I'll let you decide)

*yanks HARD*

I was going to mention the fact it's so easy to break bones wiht nunchuks, and the fact the don't look near as powerful as they are, but he kinda got that before me, just like the fact it's hard for a kid to get thier hands on an actual sword or sai. Anyway I too think it's more due to gang invovlement. My mother and sisters say that DnD is evil and forbid me from it, simply from game involvement that's happened in connection to it in the past. It makes just as much sence to me that parents of little kids would act the same over a weapon on a cartoon show -.- not that I think it's sencable, but I can totaly see thier reasoning for doing that.

I guess with all that's going on in the world, Mikey's 'chuks won't finally be censored anymore...admitedly I dunno what can happen, but at least it likely won't seem to happen this time.

Argh, nothing useful to contribute. Though I have terrible thoughts of what Hyper Metal Sonic described.

in the original TV series, lots of parents and teachers complained that the kids would imitate the TMNT so the TV series had to have softer violence in it. in some episodes, you would see Mikey with his nunchucks but then you see the grappling hook. also, in the majority of the episodes in the later seasons, Mikey had his nunchucks in his belt.

I have been told that the British tv series did not allow Mikey to fight due to censorship.

Yeah, In Britain, they renamed the TMNT Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles because in they believe that ninjas are evil and kids should not be watching that. That is why they would not let Mikey fight, because hid weapons were widely used by ninjas and such. And the new uncut version of the 1st movie that came out there is just the same here in the US except it has some scenes that got cut out due to what I explained above, such as the scene where Mikey is having that chuck contest with that foot.
