X-Men: Apocalypse. I really liked it, didn't deserve nearly as much hate that critics gave it.

Green Room. Suspense and characters made it pretty good.

Spring. Very good looking and an interesting horror-like movie.

Green Room was great. Sad that it had to be one of Anton Yelchin's last roles.

God I loved Spring. Nowhere near enough people know about it. I highly recommend it.

Daaang, I didn't know Yelchin died. That's sad.

Spring was good, but have you seen Resolution from the same guys? It became one of my favorite movies.

Really? It was all over social media when it happened. Sorry you had to find out this way.

I haven't. I'll get right on that.

Yeah.

They did some tributes to him in Star Trek Beyond. I was never very fond of his portrayal of Chekov, but I think he did his final performance well in the film, so I suspect that it had more to do with the writing in the previous movies than his acting.

The Boy. Started off pretty good,
Spoiler:
but it's one of those movies that got ruined by the ending. I've seen the same thing done way better before. Would have rather liked to see it being a real ghost.

I enjoyed that for what it was. Lauren Cohan is hot.

Yeah, she's also got a slightly crazy look, which is a bonus in a movie like this.

The Shallows. Entertaining enough, but feels like it doesn't want to admit being an exploitation b-movie.

Arrival.

Sure, it looks like Contact but it isn't disappointing. There are some really cringe-y and eye rolling things that happen but all of it makes sense in the end. I was pretty into how they did this thing that seems like a cliché but turns it on it's head to something I know I didn't expect.

I saw Doctor Strange recently. It was really good; Benedict Cumberbatch was great, as usual. So was Tilda Swinton. The special effects were fantastic.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

Saw both movies at one of the few drive-in theaters in my state.

Gods of Egypt

Meh. The story itself is moderately interesting enough, but otherwise it kind of annoyed me. In particular that Egypt must have been confused with being a part of Europe, and the female characters were so scarce and did almost nothing, so much so that the most interesting thing the "main" two did was die.

Had passed on watching Insidious 3 after seeing this one was leaving HBO after today. I should have went with the scary one.

Dr. Strange and Th. Land Unknown. Strange was cool, if a bit "strange", reminded me a little bit of Inception. Definitely different from most of the Marvel films. I liked it but found the action hard to follow during some of the action scenes. So much going on in so many dimensions.....

Land Unknown was.....a very cheesy and low-budget sci-fi movie from the b&w days, and it shows. The story involves an exploration team to an inexplicably warm spot somewhere in Antartica (early sign of global warming?) that turns out to have a lost valley full of "dinosaurs"- and one survivor from a previous expedition who decides to claim the only female member of the current group as his mate whether she agrees or not! Unfortunately he also has the only working part to fix their downed helicopter and get back to their ship before the weather forces it to leave. The dude was there for ten years alone and went completely primitive. Clearly he had issues.
