Yeah, me too! Except that in the movie they cut out the scene that tells you what they're actually doing while they're training. Want to see that scene.. and it helps the Raph/apple scene make more sense latter on.

It was a great episode. In the DVD version of the first movie is where they show them training with their eyes covered. It was pretty sweet that it was done in this episode. I could not stop laughing with all of the things going on in the apartment between April, Splinter, Don, Raph, and Mikey. Boy, those turtles act like typical teenagers. Especially with the burping, watching TV, and the eating habits. When Mikey woke up and scared Raph and Don, that was too funny.

When Mike belched I thought Raph was gonna hit em! I kinda liked when Hun and Leo got brushed showing that they really do get hurt.

This is gonna be a 3-parter and it isn't gonna be the season finale.
The season finale is under the tilte..."Search for Spinter"

As for the ep...Loved it!
Man, I Saw that coming!
I knew LEO was gonna turn his mask around and whup some @$$........ And I also knew he was gonna go berzerk on that mass crowd of foot.
A couple things were predictable, exept I was really lookin' forward to seein' Leo battle off with Shredder...oh well.

BTW.. If you think about it... From what they actually showed, Leo didnt get whipped too bad... and he's supposed to be outta commission for like the next 3 or 4 episodes? That dosnt make too much since.

And Hun is kinda losing his touch of edge.

they could still make the bruises look a little better though... I mean if somebody walked in on that without knowing whats goin on... they probably thought Leo had some kind of disease.

i wasnt expecting that myself.

It kinda is and isn't a 3 parter. There is no, "The Shredder Strikes Back Part 3," but "Tales of Leo" should definately be considered the third part to the story arc. Unfortunately, the people in charge of reruns don't seem to know this (or at least care).

Leo held his own very well, considering the circumstances. But he really did take a pounding. At the end, after he's crashed through the window, his bruises aren't just mere discolorations, but you can see that there are some fairly large bumps to go along with them. Ouch.

Leo won't be out of commission for that many episodes. He'll be semi-consious through the next episode and then will be dealing with recovery in the episode after that. In the comic, his physical wounds healed quickly. It was the mental wounds that took everyone a long time to recover from.

Wee... some errands, modding details, and four pages later, I get to post some thoughts.

But yes, I also agree this episode rocked. So what if this one didn't follow the comic verbatum. I still liked how it was laid out, considering all the existing changes that they had to work with. I also believe they are using much from the first/second movies as well.

- The lifestyle of the TMNT living with April. Wonderful! reminded me of TMNT2 as well. Though, I had to wonder how the heck Don was able to sleep ontop of the couch like that, and stay there. You know, like forget he was there, go to turn over, and end up falling onto of Mikey. Way more scarier of an incidnet than Mike's 'half-dead' hand.

- The burp. Heheh... eheh. Yeah, I had to admit this so remeinded me of Brinatello's imitations of the Animaniacs antics. They should've had mike try to say the alaphabet at the same time too.

I guess since they had Mikey as the goofball in this show, it makes sinse. If you look back int he Leo mirco, they TMNT are also doing simialr silly stuff. I think the biggest laugh in that one was Raph doing the crazy-eyed expression of Bill the Cat with Klunk.

- The climatic Leo fight sequences were well done. Left me wondering just when and where he was finally going to be overwhelmed. I loved it when the Foot Tech Ninja came in, and he was getting whooped at first. I wasn't before long until I was saying "Use the Force, Luke, use the Force!" And finally, to my delight, they have Leo turn his mask and take them on properly! Yay!

- Grunting Hun... what can I say, he's piffed beyond words! Or making like your Tatsu wanna-be. Nnngh!!

- Hay, I noticed April changing her clothes alot too. I can understand getting out of the PJ's, but I also wondered why she went from the purple tank to to the turtleneck sweater. Was that an error, or was she actually getting cold?

- The elite guard kicked arse. I loved how they were drawn, with the ragged cape, the gnarly weapons, and the slick way they fought.

- I also liked how they introduced another rainstorm, instead of snow. THe water effects and the lightening added tot he dramatic action.

- The end with Shredder shattering Leo's swords... also impressive. Wow... can wait to see how next weeks will pan out. And equally happy they didn't play the preview DURING the crap twins.

My fault, I knew that...
I confused myself...

I was thinking of
"Return to New York"
which will be a 3-parter.

Anyone else notice that in the preview for next week's episode, Leo has BLUE SAIS? Obviously he has them because his swords were broken, but, I can't wait to see how they explain it all.

Sorry about the snow at the bottom of the pic, I had to pause my VCR to get the shot.

Josh

PS - The Shredder - PLEASE change that image in your signature, I'm on a broadband modem and a P4 and it STILL lags my computer TERRIBLY. I can't imagine how it is for people on dialup and the like.

actually if you're talking about the one with the video on the sig. then it seriously lagged my comp. (56K ). thanks for changing it Shredder

and about leo . . . i think that was just a mistake. they probably meant it to be raph but put leos colours on instead. i doubt leo will fight at all since the ep after the next one deals with leo going in and out of consciousness. hopefully they'll fix that next week.

some other little notes. . .

i thought raph was going to catch the last dish with his sai, just like he caught the slice of pizza in the second movie

mikey - "how about scrambled eggs?"
everyone else - "AGAIN!?!?!"

and about don sleeping on the top of the couch . . . he's ninja

i liked leo's move with the rope near the beginning of the fight to get away, and then the move he pulled on hun when he pulled back the clothes hanger and let go

i also wonder how the foot found leo so fast . . . and they knew where he was staying (2nd Time Around). looks like shredder knows alot . . .

That actually looks more like donny...

not only because the ribbons look more purple than blue, but also... the skin color AND he has no strap as for Leo would... either that or they're getting back into the 'Spot the bloopers' gig again.

Actually, at one point, Leo and Raph are in the same shot together both with sais, so, that can't be it. As for the belt...why would he wear the shoulder strap with no swords?

Lamest ep title yet. It's a clear pun of 'The Empire Strikes Back', and while that isn't the lame part, it's that they used this satirical title for what can be considered the dramatic height of the season. Otherwise, it felt like the longest ep so far when all previous eps left me feeling like I must have been abducted by aliens at some point while watching it because I felt jipped of a minute or two. Damn, I'm bored. I think I'll go order a pizza. You kids want anything?

It's a pun of "The Empire Strikes Back"? Ok i thought it was just a follow up to the Shredder Strikes. Hey what's next "Return of The Shredder"? "Attack of the Foot Ninja"? Anyway I loved the part when Leo beat Hun and he went "Boo!" and scared the Foot Tech Ninjas off the roof.
