But the dream haunting, demonic beavers, giant talking turtles, psychic ginger & all that jazz are totally normal, plausible things, right?

Yeah, this episode had like, no character development whatsoever. I was hoping the time at the farm house would be a good time to brush up on some character development, but it's like they are afraid to go on nomore than 25 second without something tragic happening. The only thing I really liked, was how delicate April was with Donnie when he was sleeping, cradling his head in her arms. That was cute. But, this show needs some more substance. I don't know what's happening, but why can't they just write a decent story that isn't OTT and stupid?

So...A Nightmare on Elm Street turned 30 this year (last Friday to be exact), Tales from the Crypt turned 25, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre turned 40. All of the guest cast are from these three franchises. Now that is how you kill three anniversaries with one episode.

So Raph misses big fights like the finale, gets turned into a flower, has zero going on with his character (he doesn't even much of a friendship with Casey anymore, he's too busy in the April/Don/Casey thing)a nd is now afraid of both cockroaches AND snakes.
How much MORE of a wimp/useless/altogether Pansy are they going to turn this guy into...seriously. |

It's a family cartoon show. There are going to be filler episodes. It happens literally all the time. TMNT is no different. Quote:

This is definitely one of the better episodes I've seen of the series. I can tell that the writers and animators are having a lot of fun with the episodes this season, and it shows in the energy of the show. This episode had so many disturbing moments (Casey almost getting cut up by a chainsaw), but I still loved the surreal ending. Casey grew on me a lot in this episode because he managed to be the one to really save the day. I also enjoyed April's attention toward Donatello. I was seriously worried that after that episode where she kissed him on the lips, they were going to act like it never happened. |

Even if Muckman is a good guy, he's gross & gnarly in design. So it's reasonable to expect some horror nods & dark visuals. |

So...maybe I shouldn't have let my kids watch this one. Even my eldest was covering his eyes during that conveyer belt scene, and he's usually quite the brave little soul. He likes to tell us "I'm not scared" when he's halfway behind the couch.
Still it was very good. That Dave Beaver was very funny. And I would like to see the Turtles start a heavy metal band. But...my goodness, easy with some of that imagery is all. (It looked like severed limbs!) |

Best episode of Season 3 so far. I loved the supernatural elements in this episode, as I was slightly worried that these Beavers would end up being glorified mutants.
Turns out that's not the case And I agree with you TrickOrTreater, this season kicks butt. As far as character development goes, the Turtles still seem to get quite a bit as far as I can tell. I'm not as worried as I used to be, since I know in time they will get back to New York, so I'm enjoying the ride. We're seeing a side of them that is getting 'prepped' to go back to New York, especially since the supernatural elements will likely be the same kind that prompts the vision quest. I'd rather have some not so serious episodes sprinkled in, because 'deep' and serious stuff would get boring if that was all there was. |

I'm a bit surprised by the mixed reviews for this episode. This is definetly my favorite season three episode by far. While I am getting a bit bored with the horror theme, this was a great stand alone ep. Honestly, I was really hoping that the Northampton episodes would be relatively freak of the week free so we can focus on character development, but Ciro didnt hire me. Speaking of development, Raph is quickly becoming my favorite turtle. His dream was soooo bad ass (bass Donnie!) and I'm loving how caring he is with Leo. For context, Donnie was my favorite season one and I liked them equally last season. Raph takes the cake, now. More Raph and Casey, less love triangle, plz. And ugh freaking psychic ginger. While I do want to see development, I really don't care to see April's powers getting developed. I'd rather see a non-tease April with a personality than one with magical powers.
Anyway, love this episode. Not in love with this season, though. Also, took five episodes, but I'm not missing Biggs anymore. Seth is perfect.
