Please if Guardians of Whatever was opening up against any other film you wouldn't be talking about it.

GOTG has 100K more than TMNT on Facebook... GOTG=517K TMNT=418K
GOTG's Facebook also has been active since July of 2012.. TMNT's FB has only been active since March.. I thought Facebook likes wasn't an indicator of ticket sales? Every time I mention TMNT's 31 MILLION views in just a few days it gets dismissed as well? What about the fact that TMNT is a MUCH more well known franchise having better name recognition? The fact that it's had multiple cartoons, comics, movies and has been the number 1 best selling toy for the past 6 years "or something like that" must mean something.. The fact that it's touched the hearts of many generations all over the world, that has to mean something? Uh.. this is so stupid enough already..This STUPID competition.. Imo this is just as ridiculous as the "Bays TMNT are adults" thread, It is literally nothing but an excuse for people to act like GOTG fanatics on a TMNT board.. I'm sure they have their own forum somewhere in the galaxy

I know... that last bit... cheeeeese

(Oh, for crying out loud.)

First off, is anybody claiming that TMNT isn't going to do well, necessarily? Did anybody actually claim that GotG has exactly 100K more likes, or that FB likes are an indicator of ticket sales, as you imply? I quote myself:

Doesn't necessarily mean anything re: the box office, but there's clearly a lot of interest/excitement around Guardians.
Bolded for emphasis. Literally all I was saying is that GotG has a lot of interest and excitement around it. And that was in direct response to this comment:

See?

Honestly, it seems that some of the folks complaining about a supposed "STUPID competition" here spend a lot of time actively creating it...

There's plenty of room (and dollars) for both movies to do well in their own right. Speculation and comparison are fun, but getting hostile and competitive and condescending and even shouting down people because they have a different POV or opinion? It doesn't add to anything. It doesn't alter the future box office results. It just makes this entire forum really unpleasant to be on.

Who was talking to you? I know I wasn't? I thought you had me on ignore?
Chill your britches man. I wasn't being "aggressive". Put me on ignore.. You keep saying you have but every time I post here you are throwing your arms up in the air moaning and groaning about a post that wasn't directed at anybody specific.. I hadn't even seen your previous post..
It seems like every time I talk up this franchise I piss someone off.. it's ridiculous. Like I said.. You seem to have an issue with me.. Then put me on your god damn ignore list. FOR REAL THIS TIME!! I've had it with your little " Ban him" agenda.

As a person who worked at a Toys R Us during the Holidays there were two sections that got cleared out of stock almost everyday was 1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and 2. WWE. Guys like Tricky are pretending this movie is opening up against The Amazing Spider-Man or a new Hulk flick because they unfounded hate for the turtles reboot are being on emotion not facts.

What making it unpleasant is people openly rooting for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie to fail on a Turtles message board while pretending a movie based on third tier Marvel characters is the greatest thing ever.

Is anything you just described against the forum rules? Is there some reason people can't respectfully/civilly list their concerns or dislikes, and even express enthusiasm for something else, so long as they don't harass and disrespect others?

On the flip side: do you know what actually is against the rules, and what actually makes the forums an unpleasant place to visit?

I see an absolute ton of this lately, including in this very thread, and I'm beyond sick of it. I've been posting off and on here for 11 years, but the constant personal attacks and the open hostility and aggression from some posters here makes me question if it's even worth my time anymore.

What are you talking about? I notice something it's ok for the anti movie people express their opinion but if those who support the movie or challenge the anti posters then they're uncivil meanies to you. For the most part I just sat back and read the back and forth between the pros and the anti posters. I didn't jump in until the foolishness reach its peak with the anti posters. I haven't told Tricky he couldn't have his opinion the problem I have with guys like tricky is that they confused their opinion with facts on the ground.

Not once I said this movie will be the greatest Turtles movie ever all I said is wait and see or I'll challenge the anti movie posters comments. Now if you think challenging your opinion is a personal attack that's on you. I

I don't care about YouTube views or Facebook likes. As a franchise I love TMNT and wasn't familiar with GOTG until right before Marvel announced the movie. I'm basing this on what I've seen - I'm much more excited for the GOTG film than the new TMNT film. That's not a dig at TMNT - I just think GOTG looks better and they've done a better job at marketing it than TMNT.

Don't get me wrong I'm excited for both but I do say that the best trailer add kind of a let down the first trailer was great but the most recent one was blah heck I'm going to see both so it really doesn't bother me that their marketing is "better" but the last one was bad

The first Guardians trailer was solid. They acknowledged that their characters were unknowns, and introduced them. Since then, I don't see why they haven't told us what the conflict is, or what the Guardians are up against, or why they're fighting, etc. It's just guns and spaceships. First they introduce the characters like we don't know them, then they promote the movie as if their characters will carry it.

^ Pretty much the same for me.

Everything I've seen for TMNT so far has made me cringe.

I know right....that what the possitive side has been saying for quite some time....no one seems to care. It sucks when the shoe is on the other foot dont it..... Its like the neggative side gets an opion on something then TRICKS themselves in to believing its facts instead of opinions.....no pun intended.... on a personal level you personaly, USEUALLY are able to respond to disslikes in a possitive way but there is so many others who attack evrything possitive about this movie including the people that are stoked for it....and if you or anyone else cant see this either you feel like only your opion or other who share your opinion matters or you aint reading these post right

And no i meant excluding the cartoon kids would probably choose TMNT over guardians, because TMNT isn't as unknown as Guardians, only thing attracting kids to guardians is Rocket and Groot, two anthropomorphics TMNT has 4 anthropomorphic animals,

Seriously Guardian fans are really making me hate this movie.
If there's that many Guardians fans, then it's not that obscure. Thing is, look at the people on this thread, who I'd say are more of the "in" crowd and most of them who are looking forward to Guardians didn't know much about them, or anything, until the movie started building up its hype.

You can put blinders on, but there's excitement for Guardians and it's not from "just fans."

And never underestimate a furry critter with an attitude for getting people, and kids, attention. Also never underestimate the marketing strategies of Marvel/Disney.

I'll still stand by my statement that TMNT got the short end of the stick being pushed to August. Everyone said from the start that Guardians was Marvel's first long-shot gamble since it was first announced and one of the things against it was the August release date. Bumping TMNT into a historically bad month PLUS putting it against a Marvel property is kind of a raw deal.

Try not to let it get to you Bry - I think we're all getting a bit frustrated atm but there's still lots of good things about the forum too. I don't think it's worth leaving over - there's still going to be complaining/fighting after the movie comes out, but it can't go on forever... look at it that way.
