26 Million in 2 days is not bad at all, we'll just have to wait and see how it holds up over the next week or so. The movie's advantage is all the big hits that buried Out of the Shadows here are already out over there, they came out over the past month.

IDW is the best version of TMNT

If they make a TMNT reboot movie retelling the shredder battle/origin, I won't buy a ticket.

I looked at China's opening weekend for the 1st movie and that also did $26M at opening weekend, so TMNT 2 could gross up to $62M in China.

Yeah, I noticed that. Yet the article on the previous page said the box office was up 14% from the opening of TMNT 2014- yet the 2014 film opened on a friday in china, so it had a three-day weekend, so TMNT 2 earned over two days there what the first one earned over three days, not bad.

Ugh... I can't believe I'm analyzing the details of THIS movie this much. X_x yech.

Reading through this thread from beginning to middle was truly a joy for a little while.

So many great bits too. "Can't possibly make less than the first one" and so on and so forth.

I thought it was going to make more than the first movie, it was a total surprise that it bombed.

TMNT 2 isn't the only movie that bombed though (X-Men, Alice, Independence Day 2 ect) and it's not just sequels that are bombing either, Warcraft, The Legend of Tarzan, The BFG ect are also bombing.

I think the main problem was that there was too many potentially big movies being released too close to each other or on the same day and people are burned out or decide to save there money for other big movies like Deadpool, Zootopia Civil War, The Jungle Book, Finding Dory.

In the coming weeks we've got The Secret Life of Pets (already out in the UK), Ice Age, Ghostbusters, Star Trek, Suicide Squad and they could end up bombing or do really well in the US.

I was going to see Absolutely Fabulous and Legened of Tarzan this week but I decided to skip them because i'm feeling burned out now after seeing 12 movies (TMNT 2, 4 times) since May. The next movie I will be seeing will be Ghostbusters next week.

It might bomb in the UK, it comes out a week after Finding Dory and then Petes Dragon comes out a week after that and it's during the school holidays as well.

It's gonna do really well, and not cause its a comic book movie, because of Will Smith being in it.

That would be like saying The Secret Life of Pets is going to do well not because it's a kids film but because Kevin Hart is voicing a character.

Wow TMNT 2 released in a lot of countries at the weekend, not just China, Belgium, France and South Africa.

Belgium
Chile
China
Columbia
Denmark
France
Hong Kong
Hungary
India
Malaysia
Peru
Singapore
South Africa
Sweden
Switzerland
Taiwan
Venezuela

It seems to be doing well in some Asia countries and some South America countries.

Edit

Oh nevermind the release dates are different, Box office Mojo only just updated the site to include some of those countries that TMNT 2 was released weeks ago.

It's been in Sweden for as long as in America, I think they put up there because the showings are almost over.

Oh TMNT Part 2, do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rage at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light!

Actually, no, don't. Do this instead:

Yeah maybe but when the first movie came out, they added the countries and gross straight away after opening weekend and updated every week.

As of yesterday, the domestic Box Office isn't even making 100 000 on a daily basis anymore and when it does it isn't even doing much better, it took roughly 1 month to get to this.
