Official Info on the Nick TMNT Series - Page 45

I must say, I'm really am getting hyped up for this show! It sounds like Nick genuinely cares about what they are creating here. And if that's true, then we should have one decent show!

I have to admit though, I'm a little unsure of the whole idea of April being sixteen. It just seems like she'd be more useful to the gang if she was older. But hey, I hope they prove me completely wrong by showing just what she can do!

from the sounds of things, it looks like this is shaping up to be a great TMNT animated series with alot of potential to it!

16 year old April was a bit perplexing to me, at first, but I'm over it, considering this cartoon is aimed towards a new generation now.

I will always be fond of the 1987 series and it will always be my favorite. But I'm certainly open to a few changes if it means it will be an enjoyable series for all ages.

As a child of the 80s, I never thought about love, and crushing on someone when watching the show. and we certainly didn't apply logic to cartoons like so many do now. All that mattered was that the show was enjoyable to watch. And that's all I expect from this new series as well. as long as it has a good story plot, is funny, and has tons of kick butt ninja action, it'll be a great show.

I'm not going to judge the new show before I've seen it. As long as TMNT keep living on, in the form of new shows on tv, that's all I care about.

It's a popular franchise and I hope it remains that way for many more years. Otherwise it'll end up as forgotten, like a cancelled soap opera enventually is.

Well nobody can say whether the show will be truly good yet. Until we see the first 3-5 episodes to get the general tone of the show understood, see how the animation is, the type of fight scenes, storylines, and characterisation.

I hope for the best. I think it'll be inbetween the levels of the original cartoon and 4kids series personally, with a bit more continuity and action than the old series but not as much as the 4kids series.

I don't think TMNT will be forgotten. It has become universal over the years. They may be reaching the height of the DC and Marvel superheroes soon. It takes time, but TMNT lasts longer than Spongebob ever will.

No. No they're not. They're still considered a relic from the 80s and a cute face to slap on your hot topic hipster chic wristband.

Do you think the TMNT could have the strength to get to that point one day? I wonder about that sometimes.

I don't even know if I think that the Turtles can become as big as the big 2's comic book stable. I mean Marvel and DC are HUGE! Their characters are HUGE and much much older than the Turtles. Do I think Stryker's just "Being Stryker" no question, but there is a huge difference between a Batman, a Superman, and a Leonardo.

I was thinking about that today not really if they will ever be that big. But do they have the staying power that the others do. I really think they do I mean lots of superheros come and go but the tmnt have been around for what almost 28 years. I think there here to stay as main stream superheros.

And look even superman batman spiderman and the likes go off the charts for years at a time but they come back and get reinvented. Like there doing with the turtles.

I believe that the Turtles have the potential to get pretty big. Maybe not as big as Batman or Superman. IMO whats holding back the Turtles is the continued direction of the turtles in the mainstream being kids fare. Having some PG-13/R comic adapted animated flicks would help alot in getting to the general public that the turtles can be and are more than the 87 series.(not bashing the tmnt 87). IMO they need to take some risks and offer up some turtles media to older audience besides just the comics. Batman,spider man and the likes have all had media ranging from cartoons to PG-13 films.

This I agree 100% batman and superman have/had things aimed at all age groups. From toddlers kids teens to adults all ages are covered tmnt needs to cover at least a kids show and something for the teens/adults. I have said it before and I'll say it again I want this up coming movie to go the dark night route.

Though I don't think either version of the TMNT is THE way to go, it certainly couldn't hurt to take a step in the other direction commercially.
Rufus is right in that the perception of the turtles could really use an update. Almost 30 years later people are still identifying the characters as cut and paste cartoons (Leader, hothead, joker, brain, etc.) that are fueled by pizza and shenanigans. A little seriousness could help.
